That sucks... I'm hoping my banks both ordered as they are supposed to... the one head teller insists I call him every Friday to order instead of just ordering for me... ugh.

Make sure to not cash them in at the same bank you bought them from. You may want to go back and buy the rest of the halves rolls. On one hand, they may be someone dump but they also may not be. The tellers will probably be happy that you take them off their hands and you can possibly build a good relationship with them.

Got a box of dimes - skunk
    $20 CWR halves - skunk
I did drop off a bag of Godiva Truffles for my tellers there.
They asked where my big bag of coins was to drop off, I told them I would have something for them next week.
At least I have them trained well enough where they know the drill and they are cool with it.
If my halves don't come tomorrow from a different bank that will be 3K that did not show or get ordered.

Yes, I wish my guy would just order two boxes a week for me too, but I have to go in there and ask each time and he tends to be out alot which is why they did not get ordered. Tomorrow can't come soon enough and they better not be skunks.

I'm in a bit of a bind here, with some high credit card bills coming due, Christmas expenses along with my daughter's college tuition, but I'm looking forward to about mid-March - April, to try my luck on this roll searching thing. Thinking about starting off with a box of halves to see how I do. Maybe quarters too. On dimes and pennies, I usually have to use a darned magnifying glass to see the dates. Halves/Quarters are ok.

It's going to be tough to trump benk's power roll of halfs. It was a slow Tues. night, so I went through the $75 in cents and $100 in nickels. Copper as usual, 33 wheats with a nice red 38-s as the topper and 3 silver war nicks. Not too bad...it did break up the monotony.

My husband and I opened the second box last night when he got home. 40 40%ers and 1 64. So total we found 103 silver coins yesterday. Best day ever of roll searching.

Sigh... just picked up my box... yeah, box. They ordered one instead of two. I clarified that I want two boxes every week, hopefully they get it right next week.

Simply amazing! It's the exact opposite here in Cali. Takes about 5 cases to get one or two. The supplies are exhausting here in the SF bay area because everyone in doing it.

That is incredible, I'm sure your husband appreciated you letting him open that second box. What a blast!

Yeah, it kills me. I had cash in my wallet I was just waiting for those boxes to search. Now I have cash and no coins. I'll have to make something happen the rest of the week so I can score at least some silver. I'll have to check but I can't remeber the last time I was skunked on silver for a whole week.

Get a box of dimes or quarters or something. I made them feel guilty and they gave me two boxes of dimes instead of the nonexistent box of halves.

That box of halves had 1 40% ender, 3 other 40%ers, and a '51-S. Oh, and 2x '97-S, both clad. I still have never found a modern silver proof.

I got a box of dimes so I could search something. It was skunk on silver and had 5 Canadian. If they don't have the halves tomorrow, I'm going to get a box of Q's and D's from them. I have this feeling they are more reliable and actually were checking on the computer and told me I had to order $1000 worth when I went in last week to ask about them ordering for me. So I think they will come through for me. I don't even hold an accoun there but I'm always nice to them and my paychecks are drawn from there. Not once have they ever denied me boxes and save stuff for me. I prob should open up an account there. Especially if they keep the halves rolling in for me.

i got a look at some shrink-wrapped rolls of dimes from our correspondant bank as we were unpacking them this morning. there were at least two pieces of silver that i saw as i was boxing the rolls up, out of $1,000 worth of dimes. unfortunately, by the time i made it back to the vault to buy the silver out, it had already been bought up by another teller and was gone. :(

If a bank is willing to order me halves, I usually open an account. I'm loving PNC and WSFS (Local bank based in DE) right now.

Merc, I was looking at PNC's website last night. Is it true that they offer a free checking account with no monthly service fee, no account minimums? I'm just curious if you might know? I figure I would just keep $100 in there to make them happy if that's the case.

I started looking around at other banks to open accounts with whether it be for receiving or dumping, and it seems that most 'free' checking accounts now will get charged for a monthly maintnance fee or charged if you don't hold a certain minimum balance, or make enough transactions, or have a direct deposit.

I use TCF for my dumps, and they just started charging $9/month for a maintance fee. 5th 3rd was doing this too, but I closed my account with them altogether. I've found their branches in the Chicago-area to be the most rude and sales driven. I currently order from BOA. And I pick up at a lot of Chases as well. But would like to throw in another bank for ordering and using some of their branches for dumps as well. I have to scout out the PNCs around here more, but I think a lot of them have coin counting machines in the lobbies like TCFs do.

Back to the matter at hand though. Having a lot of 'free' checking accounts with different banks all adds up at the end of the year in service fees. But I was figuring it gives me more opportunity to get more silver, and if say I have 3 banks each charging $7-10/month for a monthly maintance fee b/c I don't meet their minimum amounts, or no direct deposit, etc. That could be about $340/year. I'd rather only carry 2 if that's the case, not happy about fees, but I figure all the silver would out weigh the fees.

Yeah, PNC has totally free checking. Pretty sweet. None of my accounts have maintenance fees... any bank that charges you to give them money doesn't deserve jack.

    The breakdown goes like this...

TD (Student checking even though I haven't been in school for 4 years? Ha)
    PNC (Totally free)
WSFS (Inactivity fees after 3 months)
2 local credit unions (Both free and pay interest on my $50 deposits, lol)
1 local bank (Free with SDB.)
