    9 boxes of dimes; 1 '04-S and 13 silvers, 1 being a Merc.

Couldn't find any halves today, I'm gonna cash in a ton of dimes tomorrow and try to pick it up before the bank closes at noon.

I can't remember what year it started, but during the "silver years" as I call them, proofs were struck at the Philly mint, and have no MM. I want to say it was 72 or so that the San Francisco mint was designated as the mint to mint all proofs.

I myself only own 2 proofs. A Maryland CLAD Statehood Quarter, found in change! Also, my great grandmother gave me a 1975-S proof Lincoln Memorial Cent. I think my great grandfather, who I never got to meet pulled that out of circulation because it has a couple dings on it, and is in a 2X2. My great grandpa was NOT the kind of guy to break up a proof set.

It's not a proof, it's just a prooflike coin, or perhaps polished to crap. Almost every modern proof will have frosted devices, you'll know them when you see them.

well, after a break I'm back. Did 5 boxes this week - 2 pennies, 2 nickels, 1 dime.

I came out with a few wheat, 3 silver roosevelts, 1 war nickel, and about $7 in random stuff I pulled - a few rainbow, some older BU, 1 cracked planchet penny, and various other stuff. Turning it all in tomorrow and getting more :)

Is there any point to saving any of the post 2000 Halves? I found some nice ones in a box today (no silver though). I have tried to read back quite a few pages on this thread, but I haven't seen anything relating to their value. Thanks!!!

If you find a non-proof 75-S cent, it's even bigger news. 1974 was the last year for business-strike S-mint cents.

Are you serious? Not only a Barber, but a key Barber?

I think you might be right, and I think I might be old. :)

I was talking about the quarter, I don't think it's a proof. Should have quoted the poster.

Great Scott! If I found a barber, you'd see pics. If I found a key date barber, you'd see pics and a small essay describing it's condition. :)
    Indeed I did.
    Easy mistake to make, man.

    2 boxes of halves.

1 1964 and 1 40% ender. I think it was a '67? I will post a pic on HOTN's thread when i get off work. I had technical difficulties last night!

makes 4 coins out of 10 boxes. :( I've started marking all my coins. will be interesting to see how long it takes to start getting them back.

Speaking of marking I found a really cool rainbow toned modern date kennedy. not worth anything but I really want it in my book. someone wrote numbers across the face in black sharpie.

anyway to get rid of that without removing the toning? I don't care if it becomes a "cleaned" coin, it's not worth anything, but I do want to keep the tone intact.

Don't be that guy who marks nice, BU coins, please. I f'in' hate the guy who does that around here. He's ruined several rolls of JFK's nice enough to go into Dansco's.

You can try a long soak in acetone, that should work, but if the toning is a foreign substance stuck on the coin (Which would be considered not market acceptable) the acetone will probably remove that as well.

I won't mark the nice coins. I'm just just taking the stack and drawing a line across the rim so it won't deface the face of the coin anyway. most of the coins I see are already marked with a black dot on the B or a red slash under kennedy's neck. It has me really curious if someone is really active or if I am cycling through inventory really quickly.

I've found lots of gunky coins but this one is the real deal. I'll try to post a pic later.
