I'm new to this board, but have collected for about 50 years. However, I'm unfamiliar with this roll searching thing. I've never bought rolls of coins to look for collectibles. And I see also where a lot of you buy boxes of these rolls.

Do most banks sell boxes of rolled coins?

What do you do with coins that you don't want to keep for your collections?

Do you re roll them and sell them back to the bank?

    Thank you,

    Robert

I have not had great luck this year, though I have been busy. I have searched 2 dime boxes and about $90 in handrolls cumulatively and found 2 Silver Roosies....

My second box from yesterday had 2 40% and a 1951 Franklin. I hadn't been able to get them for the last 2 weeks, and I thought they would have just not ordered the 2nd week after I hadn't picked up the boxes from the first week, but they did so I picked up the other 2 today. Box 1 had 2 40% and a 1946 Walking Liberty, box 2 was a skunk. Also, a box I ordered a while ago from PNC finally came in, so I picked that up too, haven't gone through it yet. Getting the walker and franklin, but no 1964s, made me think about which one I get more of. Through all the boxes I've done, I've gotten more Walkers + Franklins than 1964s. 42 -25. Is that the same for you guys? I would have thought that they would have a higher chance of being pulled out of circulation than the 64s.

    PNC box - 1 40%, 1 1955 Franklin. Make that 43-25.

At my job, one of my co-workers gave me a 1905 V-nickel he found earlier today. This is now the oldest nickel from circulation that I have encountered.

    $625 in dimes: 2 roosies and 1 1968 50% silver canadian

    Question for the penny searchers:

Are there any canadian pennies that are keepers?

If you want to hoard copper, keep anything 1996 or earlier (the copper content of those coins is 98%). Also, keep anything with George V and George VI on it (maybe throw ones with young Elizabeth II, used from 1953-1964, in that bunch).

Found a silver quarter in two rolls of CW quarters.

    3 boxes of halves:
    1993 S proof (think its 90%, doesn't seem to be clad), 2 1964's, 7 40%'s and a '52 Franklin from first box. Found 3 other 40%'s in the other 2 boxes.

Been sick for a couple days. Missed my dump bank on Tuesday to send out a coin lock bag so I dropped it off at another branch yesterday. While I was in town I stopped at a different bank and got a box of quarters. 1 x 1944 Washington. Also there were 3 Canadians that did not fool me.

My bank on Wednesday never called about my halves coming in. I'll have to give them a ring today and see if they got ordered.

Hey everyone. I just started searching rolls of halves around christmas and came across this forum a couple weeks ago. Very interesting to read what everyone is finding out there. My goal is to search one box every week. I got my first one just before christmas. Here are my results so far.

    First box- 1-64' ken.
    1- franklin
    13- 40% ken.

    Second Box-4-40% ken.

Third Box- skunk, as you guys say

    Fourth box-1- franklin
    1- 64' ken.
    9- 40% ken.
Just got a box yesterday. I'm about halfway through it. Good so far.
