This one almost looks like zinc coated copper!!! Though if it was it would probably be worth tens of thousands. I think I paid $24 for it (from KryptoniteComics)
Hum, I have, I think 3 circulation finds. I would not know replated from cheese dipped though! Guess I better not post. Don't want to end up on BadThad's Bad side!!
I've only seen top quality coins from you! Very nice Lincoln! I am going to guess MS67 on it without looking it up. Very strong and nice strike. :thumb:
Man, that is cool. I just remembered that I saw two steelies in the donation bin at walmart a bit back. It was so painful to look at them!
Just took my first pics from my Coin Collection. Posting in this thread, because I included a 1943 S Penny with a couple of other coins. New Member just as of last week, but have been collecting for 50+ years. Read my Intro "Hello from Oklahoma" for more info. I was "sorting" through a box of my Dad's coins in search of Canadian Coins, and WOW! found an 1883 U.S. Nickel in GREAT SHAPE! Also, in this box, I found a miniature Indian Head Nickel, dated 1938. So, here are my 1883 Nickel, the Mini-Nickel, and one of about 10 1943 S Steel Pennies that I have. My apologies if these images don't show very well. First attempt at taking pics and posting them. Robert
More of my 1943 Steel Pennies I lied in my previous post.... I didn't mean to. I could have sworn I had 10, or maybe more 1943 Pennies, unless I have misplaced some. I found 5, couple not too bad, few kinda beat up. Trying more of my photo posting. Robert
Here's my story. A few years ago before I got really interested in numismatics I was at the beach just playing in the sand one evening. I dug out a penny which I noticed was a wheat cent so I decided to keep it. The color looked a little odd but I figured it was just from it being old and in the sand for a long time. You really couldn't tell it was steel. I didn't pay much thought to it and put it away. Later I looked at it again and noticed it was Monterey during WWII, I knew that they mongrel steel cents during the war but I couldn't remember in what year. So I put a magnet to it and it stuck. I was super excited about this find and to this day it is one of my favorite coins.
