I asked my wife when I deployed to check at the bank on a regular basis for any halfs, large dollar coins and new straps of 1, 2, and 5 dollar bills. Well she emailed me today and told me she picked up $600 worth of brand new $2 bills still in the original BEP strap. I told her to send me the front serial number off of each bundle and the series. I hope I get some good serial numbers! I will post what they are as soon as she sends them too me as well as try for some pictures.
Turns out, she bought $800 worth of $2… These are the serial numbers and a picture. F14595906 AF14595635 A F14595701 AF14595530 Don’t look like there is going to be anything special as far as serial numbers go. I might just throw them up on Ebay when I get home.
$2 2003A notes are still the most current series to be found in circulation. The government is slated to print up a new batch of twos with a newer series date sometime before October of this year, I would wait (if possible) until those are issued before listing these notes on ebay.
Why do people list $2 bills or even current halves on eBay? They are not worth more than $2 each (or 50 cents for halves), unless one of what they call "Bidiots" who is basically a person who does not know any better, bids on them. H:devil:ll, I see bricks of $2 bills going for over $200 oiver face value, and I think to myself "These people gotta be nuts, trying to sell something for $2,222.22 or so, that you could have a bank order you for $2,000" The only way I see it worth selling these straps "over" face value, is if the $2 bill is mandated by law, to be redesigned with features for the blind, and the visually impaired, and there is an actual design change to the $2 bill. Otherwise, I feel they are worthless..well, worth $2 actually.
