I'm wonderin' if anyone picked one of these half dollars up and if you're gonna flip it on ebay. When would be the best time and how much? Set price or 99 cent start up? ;)

I got one to keep. Very nice. Why would you not be able to sell on Ebay? As long as you say its a D Carr overstrike. Of course there are no real 64 Franklins. I sent mine to ANACS to be graded and the label clearly states what it is.

I don't know if this falls under their new rules regarding replicas, fakes, etc. But this has or will be in effect. It's targeted mainly at the guy in China who is allowed by the government to make "replicas" with or without concern for the coin hobby act.

Replicas are a big market so I think properly described Ebay auctions will be fine. But if the coin never existed is it really a replica. These Dan Carr pieces are masterpieces. I have the Clark Gruber Ann. Gold Piece.

No, it's a fantasy coin. These will continue to be allowed on eBay. Most of DC's fantasy coins sell for considerably more than the initial offering price, as demand is quite high. If you check DC's website, you'll notice many of his coins (including this one) are sold out.

Think I paid $85 or $90, somebody put up the link. Carr's are still doing really well on ebay but I notice many people setting a price as opposed to having a NR auction. I know it's a gamble, guess I'll have to think it over.

I recall Mr. Carr helping me out on an entry in Wisconsin's state quarter competition about 10 years ago. I had an idea for a really nice design featuring 'Old Abe', the mascot eagle for the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment during the Civil War, sent it and some historical info on the subject to him and he made it absolutely *DAZZLE*!!

The design made it deep into the competition, but was ultimately rejected in favor of the uninspiring clip-art that we got instead.

I am quite a fan of Mr. Carr as well as his work. I have one of the 33 Buffaloes. (normal strike)

Took a look and don't like a lot of what I see. I see he has a lot of man made 'error' coins that he sold. Not cool.

I like his work a lot too. He just has fun trying new things with tooling the his Denver Press....giving us some cool pieces in the process.

Has NGC or PCGS certified any of the David Carr fantasy coins? I would be interested to see what the label looks like.

That's a shame. I'm in Illinois. The Old Abe eagle is of great historical interest. You're right about what Wisconsin got instead.
