I have a new digital microscope and this one Roosevelt dime appears to have a doubling on UNITED. Is it possible to have doubling on just one word ?

Yes it is. It's even possible to have doubling on just part of a word, but I don't see any doubling on your dime.

It kind of looks like there is something under the E in united, but there is no relief. Searching for DDR's is one of my favorite things to do in the coin world. I found my first DDR Franklin a couple of months ago and I was hooked. It is like finding an Arrow Head.

Hi ! Chris, Thanks for the response.

I am not very knowledgable about varient's or error coins, so really don't know what I am seeing. The tops of the letters on United appear unlike to other dimes, so I bow to your expertise.

    Thanks

Jason, I love your comparison to Arrow heads.

Do you look for DD's on all Rosies or just the ones noted in Red Book ?

Can you tell from this image if there is something strange about the tops of UNITED in comparison to the 1999-P ?

That's a form of strike doubling.

    I concur.

Nice crisp images of the coin though :)
