We our now only waiting on Chris (Bob Connor,s son) to complete the wording on the
Plaques so that they can be presented one will go to the young notables and he will
Keep the other for his family, as soon as that is completed we can move forward, i have
Recently e-mailed Chris and am waiting for him to get back to me with an expected
    Completion date.

    Hello,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Frank Renberg and I facilitate the Young Notables program. I did not personally know Mr. Connor but can see that he was greatly admired by those that held that privilege. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful people who have donated items for this class. Many of your donations have been delivered and I am told a financial donation is also in the works. I will do my best to make sure the Young Notables group is worthy of your generosity!

[TD="colspan: 2"]This years Young Notables class is finally scheduled! I met with the Principal this week to finalize this school year's dates. We are going to start the first week of January and run for 10 weeks. The group will be after school and consist of 25 students in grades 3-5. We will again feature currency and coin collecting. We will cover basic grading, caring for collections, value, and other core collecting concepts. The experience last year was great and I look forward to this year's group. I will plan to update this board as well as the PCGS currency board with weekly pictures and class details.

    Thanks again! -Frank

So, is this fund set up as a qualified charitable organization (I believe 501(c)(3))? If not, look into it, that way donations would be tax deductible, so you should get more interest in it.

    Hello,
With just a few of weeks before this year's Young Notables class begins I was wondering if anyone has any contact information for Bob Connor's son Chris? I have sent several messages to the e-mail I was provided with by Rusty Meyers but have not received any response. Thanks, Frank

Frank, See post #6 of this thread. Chris Connor posted there under his fathers CoinTalk account name. Perhaps you can send him a Private Message via CoinTalk on his member page here: connor1

The Young Notables class starts Thursday! The class looks like it could be full at 25 students. I hope to have the first round of pictures and a quick write up done this weekend. Thanks again to all who donated items and money in honor of Mr. Bob Connor. Hopefully, we can get the cash donations straightened out soon. The coins and currency donations are already scheduled to be put to good use with this year's group. With sincere thanks, Frank

This year's group is the biggest yet for the Young Notables class. We have around seven returning students and 26 total! All 26 are EXCITED to learn more about numismatics. They wore me out just trying to lay out this year's lessons. As usual we started off asking the question "Why do people collect?". We discussed collections versus hoarding or accumulating. We touched on the types of values associated with coins and currency. Financial value; historical value; sentimental value; and educational value were all discussed. This class was all about wanting to know more. Because of the size of the class I asked some of the returning students to help out. Class one photographer was Randy who did an excellent job. I hope we can have one or more students chronicle the class as we have done in the past.

A few pics of the future of our hobby:

Thanks again to all who have supported this program! Class number two is next Thursday.
