I think you are talking about the reflection. This looks like LED high intensity with multiple light sources, usually arranged around the objective lenz of the microscope. I wouldn't use the built in lighting and shoot with an external light source.
I liked the pretty gold toning of this one, and the almost steel blue centers. It's a rather unique look for a clad modern quarter.
uh oh, Its the coin roll hunting thread all over again. It seems like we might have to start a whole new topic dedicated to new acquisitions.
Didn't pick up any American stuff yesterday but here's a list of what I got. Most came out of the 3/$1 bin. 1944 Belgian Franc 10 3 Pence: 1937, 1942, 1943, 1945, 1952, 19531956, 1957, 1960, 1967(MS) 1915 5 Centavos Cuba. Absolutely love the design on this coin (this is my 3rd one) 1961 Franc 1946-B Franc 1916 Netherlands 1/2 Cent 1983 20 Koneek CCCP 1959 Federation of Nigeria Six Pence 1956 Six Pence 2002 Guyana 5 dollars 1997 Trinidad and Tobaco 1 cent 1971 Trinidad and Tobaco 1 cent 1851 German State of Bavaria 1/2 Kreuzer and my favorite: 1923 Poland 20 Groszy UNC
Well, Coinczar, IMO, to me it's like looking at a picasso and a rembrant. One is a unrealist and the other is a master. On the coin, there is no image of Washington, only a faded resemblance, with no distinct features. When a collector looks to buy a coin, he chooses the best image possible ( coin quality ). Although state quarters are a dime a dozen, they have some of the best Washington images ever, with striking hair lines. These ATB proofs would be outstanding coins with real eye appeal if they carried the same obverse as the state quarters. Dave
Hi ! Saltysam-1, The microscope will not work if not plugged in to the computer. There is no on or off switch nor is there a battery compartment. The LED lights automaticaly turn on when the USB cable is plugged into the computer. There is NO illumination adjustment on the microscope. The only thing I can visualize is to block the LED lights with some type of gasket that will cover the lights but not interfere with the micro sighting. Dave
Dave; Actually that would be easy to do. Do you have an airtite with the black gasket? They come in various sizes and I'm sure you could find one that would fit.
Got this 1832 Capped Bust Dime for my Ancestor Challenge Timeline thread http://www.cointalk.com/t194866/#post1300366
