Why don't you google it? It's easy.
But it's much easier to have someone else look it up for you, isn't it?
And your time is so much more valuable than anyone else's.

That's not a bad price for the clad set.

See this is what I was talking about on modern coin thread.

Why do some people on this board respond this way? The kids handle is kid collector and we should be fostering that - not bashing them. Would have been better approach to talk about red book for mintages but not prices - searching eBay for completed sales or amazon and other price guides for general coins? Can he do what you said - yes. Could you have provided a better more generous response - yes.

If you didn't want to help the OP, why respond with such rudeness?

Better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth(or type in this case) and remove all doubt.

    Give a man a fish...

Because it's annoying when so many posters come here and continue to ask the same question (how much is this worth? How much should I pay? etc.) over and over, not having taken the time to look it up themselves. I don't mind helping others when they've made unsuccessful attempts to help themselves, but resent those that want me and others to do their work for them.

    Take a deep breath.....

Until the end of time there's going to be (on Coin Talk and other coin forums) questions on value, on double(d) dies, on identifying coins etc.. Beginner collectors have no idea that what they have in hand has been asked about dozens of time before they arrived. All they are concerned about is getting answer to their queries. After a while, they'll be researching on their own. Most times Coin Talk is their first step into the deep dark waters of coin collecting.

Ignore questions like this if it annoys you. Please don't be rude.

A quick glance at the completed listings on eBay...and it appears that the majority of the clad 18 coins sets have been selling in the $20 range or so. There are a few that have sold in the low $30s, but most are around $20 from what I have seen.

In all fairness, you didn't have to respond, yet you chose to take the time to write this scathing reply. Maybe you're just having a bad day, which is why you lashed out... but don't try to defend yourself. Just let it go.

So you counter that with being rude?

    Marvelous!

First off, Kid_Collector has been here for several months now, and IS a young numismatist, and IS in the learning process of the hobby, and IS NOT the typical one post wonders who come here daily.

Second off, like I said before, better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth(or type in this case) and remove all doubt.

Finally, you may insert your foot into your mouth!

I just checked the price on this set from one of my favorite dealers: $22, shipping included. $35 might be an older price. These sets have slipped in value in recent months.

I think the issue price from the mint was about 35, so your friend probably is recouping some of his money. You paid a little more than todays going price, but still about what everyone paid when they bought them new. With the short one year territorial quarters, and the special Lincoln cents, these coins may go up in the future.

It seems that proof sets have been really flat price wise, so it may be a good time if you like proof sets to stock up.

But the name of this thread is "What's It Worth?" This should be a thread where people can post a particular item and get an honest response without harsh criticism from others. IMO, if you don't want to respond nicely, don't read the thread...

Wow, with responses like that, why even have a forum for people to chat, communicate and ask questions at all. We should just shutdown this site and have it redirect to google if that's all you're going to reply with? ;)
