I need help identifying this coin. I know nothing about it... Please include history and value. Th ank you so much...
Is there a Winged half-kneeling figure on the front of the coin? If so I think the coin is greek personally.
Ancient Greek coins did not use coats-of-arms. This piece is plainly post-16th century. We can't really say much more yet, as the OP inadvertently posted the obverse image twice!
So coat of arms is only post 16th century? I didn't know that. By its fabric you can tell its medieval or later, but I didn't know there is a certain period before which they didn't use a coat of arms. Chris
It's Spanish, somewhere between Philip III and Carlos II. Need size and obverse picture to determine anything more.
Of the top of my head, I can't recall when they became common. But I can assure you they never appear on ancient coins.
