If you really have to ask, then I'm thinking not. Actually, thats not what I'm thinking. What I'm thinking is "What Toning?" since what I can see is nothing more than a darkening on the lower portion of the coin.
Toning is toning. "Definition: Toning is a term to describe the tarnish or light patina that forms on the surface of the metal due to exposure to environmental agents or toxins." I don't find it attractive on this coin, however. It appears too dull for my tastes. I'm a sucker for rainbow toning, crescent and target. Just my opinion.
Well detecto, this Morgan here is in the grey area, usually not desirable. It doesn't have rainbow or colored toning, and it's not blast white or lustrous. Although, this coin could look much more desirable with a better photograph I bet.
I am over the whole monster+++ crazy tone. It seems so tacky to me. The ASE monster target tone...buyers remorse. Even though there is not much tone here, you can see a slight amount at the bottom of the hairline (shaggy dog hairline). I believe this is more attractive than an extreme monster. imo
The beauty of toning is in the eye of the beholder. The broad question you asked has only three answers. Yes, meh, and no. The only valid opinion on whether toning is desirable is your own.
Did you check the reverse? sometimes the reverse is nicely toned. But from the front there is not much toning going on. If you like it and the price is right, go for it.
I see nothing wrong with the coin posted. And as far as toning is concerned, I wouldn't spend a premium on toned coins for the most part. With all the "monster toned" stuff on ebay. The hype has gotten so out of hand, you can't tell real from artificial many times. Go by your own likes and eye appeal, and buy it if the price is acceptable.
