I don't see what Brandi sees in Jarrod. She has class and brains. He on the other hand wears skatboarding shorts and have no idea on how to treat a lady.
I saw it last night too. Wrong descriptions w/ wrong pictures. Oh well, who cares, as long as they get good shots of Brandi, right? YUUUUUP!
I don't think she is any better than Jarrod when she is left alone to bid she over-bidded for a worthless storage and there is times she sits idly while Jarrod does all the work. She is no Nabila.
Hahaha! I like Brandi too. Something about her. Don't know what. She does help the show a little. I've watched quite a few episodes. I saw the one where they scored with the safes. I saw it hiding back in there before they started bidding. I can't believe nobody else saw it. They did get a nice little score there. There was a lot of slabbed modern stuff. It looked like a ton of slabbed Presidential dollars. Don't know if anybody caught it but they pulled out a fake 1933, gold plated $20 and their helper got all giddy about it like it was real. They really didn't know what everything was, which is not surprising. I'm not sure how they would know what to price things without letting them ride on ebay. I think many of the prices are exaggerated on the show. And if any of us started bidding on abandoned lockers, we'd be homeless within the month. I just can't believe how many valuables get abandoned on the show. It is California though. You go to these in Illinois or Michigan, you'd be lucky to find broken Christmas decorations in the "mystery trunks".
I just rewatched that part and it was clear he could tell just by looks....Had he busted out just a scale you could make the same argument but the scale would have even proved less than the magnet...The magnet test is way more definitive than than a scale test. Never did the guy say if it passes the magnet test it's real or make it seem that way.
These are actors. They are paid. It is a set up. I still enjoy the show It is like wrestling--wait what is this behind the trunk>>????????
+1. Ever wonder why lockers filled with dirty laundry and old Tupperware seem to regularly also turn up one key or odd item, such as shrunken heads or an antique medical bleeder. I still enjoy the show. :smile TC
Hobo knows it, as do most others. Every locker is "seeded". It wouldn't make for good television if the lockers were genuine and the "bidders" weren't actors.
Oh my goodness.. say it isnt so.. Staged, fake? Cmon.. I was getting ready to change careers. Reminds me of the time I went into the locker room at Wrestlemania I and saw Randy Savage and Hulkster sipping tea.. OH YAAAAaaaaa
I believe they say they show the best lockers, and they are not representational in the fine print. I used to go to locker sales 20 years ago. Back then every locker site did it differently, the way they do it now was not set in stone then. Sometimes they didn't open the door, you bid blind. Other times you could go into the locker, other times they parted out each box from the locker and sold it separately. Yes a lot of junk, but there is/was good stuff found in there as well. I bought a tractor there once, (hey I am from Iowa, I gave it to my Dad, an old Ford).
True he sure sounds to make more.I am not 100% sure if that fact. but a buddy that I know has been to his store & I can not write/Cointalk rules" what he called the place a &#$@% over price@%my junk shop dive.
Fyi the storage auctions are done by American Auctioneers:-Dan and Laura Dotson. That is why all the auctions are handled in the same manner in storage wars.
Yeah, but the other two TV shows do it the same way, and when I was at one of these 5 years ago they also did it the same way as now. It seems this method is the standard today, (probably maximizes value for the storage company), but just mentioning in the past there were many ways this was done.
Somebody had a link to the youtube video of the midget on stilts on Storage Wars. I've seen that same guy on at least 5 other "reality" shows. Rigged or not, there's certainly some phoniness to those shows, the midget guest star makes it obvious. Oh well, it's just entertainment. I guess the caveat is not to take any of those shows too seriously.
I really don't like it. Hester keeps putting a "retail" value of what the things he finds are (So does everybody else) even when they are piles of steaming dung items he'll say they're worth as much as they are brand new. He marks things more than 300% up from its real value. I like the Auction Hunters shoe because they show the profit they made WHEN they make it. Just my
There is a smidgen of reality at least in the show. Unlike that "Operation Repo" show which the whole thing is staged, the people on the show don't even have repo licenses anymore.
Yep, something's worth what somebody pays. Otherwise, all the guys quoting values are just "walking red books" . One thing about "Op-repo" , with the disclaimer right at the beginning, they admit that it's staged, so at least that's sort of honest. BTW, I saw the midget on that show too
