That's a pretty good plating job compared to others I've seen.

    1923 S NGC MS65 RB

This was the only noteworthy coin I bought at the FUN show this year outside of some interesting medals that are on a foreign thread. Stepping up to this one set me back, pretty much soaking all my allotted cash for the trip. I first saw this coin in Jack Beymer's offerings in 2009 and thought he was out of his mind with his asking price and I thought I could do better if I looked around. Nothing ever came up at any shows or even any major auctions in MS 65 and each year I would repeatedly check in on his. This year while getting things in order to attend the big show, I promised myself that if he still had it I would make a serious offer. He did, and actually, once we got down to the nitty gritty we quickly came to a bearable agreement and I was able to purchase it for my collection. It wasn't in his stock for 4 years that I know of because it is ugly, it was protected by price. So it was a little more than the price guides show, but you can't buy them from a price guide either. It is a really nice coin and a dream example for me and I'm sure I will be happy with my choice as time goes on. We both agreed that this coin's color was pretty stable being housed in an older 20 year old NGC holder and it has been all over the country in his coin show travels. Sitting at his table we even got into a pretty nice off coin discussion about life and what else interests us. Pretty cool.

After the show, I was able to go further south (Jupiter,FL) to visit a close friend and we decided to do a little fishing on his boat in the Atlantic ocean. On the second day I realized that 5-6 foot swells in a 19 ft boat are my limit and I was sea sick as a dog:eek: for the first time in my life! After we got back towards land and into some two foot chop, I felt better and we caught several different species and bagged 21 Mackerel! They are delightful eating. So, today I'm pretty bushed and it is time to get back to work. I don't know if I will attend the next FUN show or not, unless I can add a little adventure next to it. As nice as it was to see everybody again this year, it is such a lot of work traveling to just pick up a coin or two, especially when there are so many great auctions. Next time I feel that a Heritage auction is getting too pricy, I'll remember how much it costs to attend a show in person. But then, like usual, when the show gets close there will be no way I will miss it!

Congratulations! You got your 23-S. And that is one heck of a strike for one of the poorest stuck Lincolns out there.

WOW! Killer 23-S!!!! These are hard enough to find with any red, let alone one that's absolutely hammered. If I just saw that coin, I would have figured it was Lance's Lincoln. It probably was at some point. LOL

    CONGRATS! :D

Wow Copper That has to be one of the finest 65RB's for a 23-S on the planet. You're right in one respect - it's worth a 2nd mortgage to add it to your amazing collection. Now I will be embarresed to ever post mine.

I don't think so River, I like them all. I even just finished up a set of early dates in XF I have displayed at work in my office. And there is always room for improvement in my MS collection and I still need a killer 14 S and a 26 D to finish that out. I suppose they will show up at auction sometime soon, and when they do, I prob won't have the cash saved up to buy them........It would have been nice to get a face to face at the show, maybe at the Denver ANA in May? PM me about it.

Hey I got 2 of those still in there packaging. I am thinking of sending them in to get graded and have it listed as the Cheereos Penny. Kinda curious if one could possibly be a WAM? I have been told there is none in there but who knows right.

I've heard they're worth more than a penny, but not nearly the pay off of the One Dollar coins!
