    Thanks Clay!

The seller listed it as EF-AU. It does have a vertical center crease you can see just below the "D"ollar. There are two softer vertical folds and a partial horizontal crease you can see on the front. The paper is very crisp and color is really nice. A couple minor corner folds. Centering is great, and I would hope for a EF EQP grade if submitted. I felt the price was very fair for the condition.

These came yesterday — Nothing spectacular, but all four blocks (AA, BA, CA, and DA) for the 1953 $5 Silver Certificate:

    Yet another '23 Silver Cert...

Dang just discovered it has what looks like a 1" razor cut across Washington's image. Might have to send this one back cause I didn't pay for an Apparent and it says nothing about it in the listing. Luckily the seller is top notch so it shouldn't be a big deal, and I know he probably didn't even notice it either.

So I paid a little over $50 for this note believing it was in AU. What would you guys settle for if I ask for a partial refund?

I personally would return it and not live with the cut. What is it going to be worth to you in your collection with the damage? You will have to decide.

I'd send it back for a refund.

Could I get you to divulge what you consider inexpensive?

Here is a gold certificate that I picked up this summer, but just got around to scanning it.

This was my first "big" currency purchase, and I have been pretty happy with it.

very nice pickup. I really enjoy that note for some reason, more so than the $20 Washington. Unfortunately I have not been lucky enough to get one yet.

I am happy to receive this one today.

It is a face plate number 106 engraving error — The "106" was engraved with a larger size font matching note printed at the BEP in Washington. Here is a comparison:

I paid $17 for the $1 ppq63 star , and $30 for the $2 ppq62 star. both including shipping. I'm happy with them.

It's Pick# 97, a 1944 Victory Issue 10 Peso note printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC for the Commonwealth of the Philippines.

Front: Portrait of George Wasington at left, Commonwealth of the Philippines / United States of America seal at right, "VICTORY SERIES NO. 66" instead of date at upper left and lower right
    Back: Black "VICTORY" overprint
Printer: United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing
    Size: 160 x 66 mm

The SCWPM in digital form is a searchable PDF. So for example you could search for "Washington" or "victory" or other keywords that might result in useful info. You might pick up a copy if you're considering collecting non-USA notes. The Philippines has a fair number of notes with Washington on them.

I would be, I think you did very well on the $1. I have not seen anything finish that low, especially graded. So I dug around and saw the two that seller let go with buy-it-now auctions. Good pickup.

btw: I told the seller if he takes $25 off, I would keep it. A modern razor cut just kills the value especially from a high mintage large note. I figured I could use it in a framed collage of ones I'm putting together. The center piece is 32 subject sheet.

yeah the $1 star was a BIN for $17.
