I just got my first big follis, its of Maximinus II. Love the heft & art of it. Whats funny is this has a die chip right under his nose, guess Max forgot his tissue paper when the engravers were sculpting? Photo is clickable. Maximinus II Daia (309 - 313 A.D.) Man that is a pretty coin. I have growing fonder of these, som much so I got some from Frank Robinson's latest cheap coin list. Not this quality by any means, but interesting, (Moneta, Carthage, and temple reverses). Nice coin Mat.
This is unusual in the way the engraver left more space in front of the face than behind the head. It looks nice. You are finding better coins recently.
I agree. There was a group of these at Triton, I wish they would have sold after the lots I was interested in. If so, I may have wanted to place a bid. They weren't this quality, but nice silvered vf's mainly.

I don't have any Roman Follis coins that are that large, I have a couple of Maximinus II that are 5-6 grams, but no Large Follis coins, but I do want one when I find a nice example like yours there. Great detail on both the obverse and reverse designs and titles! Very nice with alot of silvering remaining or so it looks!
