I left my 1st negative feedback in a long time.

I purchased a slabbed bust half from this seller.

I had the money set aside for it but something came up and I had to spend the money on something else.

Emailed the seller and told him that it would be one week before I paid, and to let me know if this would be a problem.

Seller said it would be no problem.

About 4 days later, seller emails me that the coin "might have been stolen".

I did not buy it, the seller runs a online store and also sells at coin shows.

I'm pretty sure it all boiled down to someone else bought the coin, and they covered it up saying it was stolen.

So I checked out the sellers feedback, and he also has a couple other neg's saying the coin was stolen.

So I left a negative.

Get a an email a little later saying:
We even put in our listings that sometimes our inventory gets sold locally and we forget to remove it, or gets sold on the road at a coin show. This coin may have been stolen or sold and one of my employees forgot to "delist" it.
------------------------------------------------

Your not allowed to do that, according to eBay policy.
What not to do
You're not allowed to:
• List an item that may be out of stock at the time of purchase.
• List an item that you're simultaneously selling outside of eBay.
• Offer an item that may not be what's delivered to the buyer.

I thought it was unprofessional to list an item, even though by the time you bought it, it might of been sold somewhere else.

If your gonna sell an item on eBay, then sell it there, and no where else, only then if it doesn't sell should you sell it somewhere else.

Wow, so I emailed the seller telling them they are not allowed to sell coins outside of eBay and on eBay at the same time. The seller sarcastically replied back "bless your heart".

How rude! I don't think anyone should buy from this seller!

the seller emails you that the coin "might have been stolen". ?

lol thats the worst excuse ever. it's illegal to sell stolen goods. usually more people are arrested for selling stolen goods than the actual people who stoled them.

also according to ebay policy, a buyer has to pay within 4 days.

but this is all here-say , so I can't knock them.

do you have a link to the auction ?

and to be honest , if I see something I like from a dealer on ebay I will check there website to see if I can get it cheaper. because usually a dealer will have the same item on there website as they do on ebay. but cheaper on the website because they don't have to pay fee's.

I just did that on a $700 item and saved about $80 bucks.I paid immediately then I noticed he immediately ended the BIN from ebay. which prevents others from buying on ebay. but they my not end it or remove it from there website until they get paid. it's business .

thats why when buying from dealers on there website or there ebay listing , you need to know what you want & what are getting , then act fast. you can look at it for days but once you commit to buy you should pay right away and not give them any excuse to sell it else where.

as far as stolen items, thats a different story.

My guess Detecto, is you got the coin for a pretty good price, and he found a buyer willing to pay substantially more. You are right, his business practices are unprofessional. His little email he sent you does nothing to correct the problem or justify his actions. You did the right thing, and this is coming from a guy who finds it extremely difficult to leave negative feedback.

Like that age old saying, "Some doors close so other doors open". Like the seller probably sold the coin to someone else for more money, you will definitely find a better coin out there to fill that void. And you never know, you might just pay a little less for it too!

I don't think I would have left negative, I would have just taken the email since it's proof and reported him to eBay for them to take action against him. It takes a lot to leave negative feedback, as in, someone takes my money, I don't receive item I purchased and then never to receive a refund.

I have also had this happen. It's happened not only on ebay, but on coin websites! I've paid for the item only to received an email saying it was no longer available...Unreal....

I also find it extremely hard to give negative feedback, but good for you in this case. Eventually the seller will be charged even higher prices to sell on ebay and will actually WANT good feedback.

If he consistently does this, eventually it will catch up to him. Either he will get tons of negatives and people won't buy from him or ebay will raise his fees.

The seller earned the negative feedback.

As I recall, when you list an item, it gives you an option to check off "This item is also for sale locally". Is that not an option anymore?
I wouldn't have left negative feedback either. Especially when you didn't meet the requirement for a prompt payment. Negative feedbacks should not be passed out lightly. So you didn't receive the coin...you also didn't pay on time. No harm, no foul.

Okay, here's my problem with this post (in bold, above).

If you're that tight on cash, why bid in the first place? From your other posts on here it is obvious you do not really understand the auction game. Perhaps if you would have paid when it was due, he wouldn't have had time to find another buyer. If you can't afford to play, you should probably stay in the bleachers.

Why am I taking this attitude? First, your earlier posts. Second, you also only provide a seller's name here, but no link to the listing. So we're only hearing one side of the story. I know, everybody who posts on an internet forum is honest and above board . But understand why I'm a little leery of your post.

Folks I have news for you, a LOT of sellers on ebay also have the same coins listed for sale other places. Yes it is against ebay rules, but they do it. And then you have people like x115 who find something they like on ebay, get the sellers website address and then buy it from the website for less. That is also against eBay rules Finding something on ebay and the doing a deal off ebay so ebay doesn't get their fee. Then there is Detecto who wins an auction and he is supposed to pay within three days, and after the auction is over tells the seller it will be a week. Yes I realize something unexpected came up, but since you couldn't pay on time I also would not blame the seller for selling it elsewhere. He may be lying when he says it may have been stolen, or he may have misplaced it and can't find it, or it may have in fact been stolen. It doesn't really matter you are both in the wrong.

I think you're a bit on the rude side as well, IMHO.

You bid on an item on eBay. The seller probably expected payment to be made within a day or two and you expected them to wait a week instead.

I literally pay seconds after I win an auction, unless the rare times I am buying multiple items (those ending later) from the seller who combines shipping, etc.

You should thread lightly on the quick trigger to leave negative feedback in my opinion. Sure this seller might be going against the rules but you never sent money in the first place, so you didn't even have to deal with the hassle of getting a refund, etc.

I'm not the only one, several other negs were left stating the seller would not honor the sale.

Also the sarcastic reply when I emailed them about eBay rules IMO made them deserve the feedback.

No matter how you slice it, telling someone "bless your heart" after a buyer tries to resolve a problem, is unprofessional.

Don't you mean the first time you have ever left feedback of any kind? You have ZERO feedback and that is the only feedback you have ever left.

I never said it wasn't unprofessional but it's a case by case basis really. You were the first to say you'd be LATE paying them, by a week. That's why I don't think it was in your best interest to leave negative feedback. He could have easily sent you a reply from your first email where you said you'd be late with payment with the rules that you have to pay within 4 days.

I also should say, check a sellers reputation before ever bidding to avoid possibly problem sellers. ;)

I've bought from sellers with negative feedback but could determine with some, it was just the buyers being unhappy no matter what.

if a seller list a "BUY IT NOW" on ebay and also has it on there website for less, I will opt to pay less. I see a lot of dealers where they have items listed in multiple places. so I see no harm in finding the best deal.

and my point was , if you buy something on ebay or a dealer site , it's best to PAY right AWAY.

I have nothing against ebay. I just like to save a buck. and I'm sure ebay will be fine. LOL

HAHAHAAHAHA PEOPLE LIKE ME ! I RESENT THAT REMARK

I just received a Szechuan, China silver dollar I purchased from this seller. Turned out the coin was not a silver dollar, but a silver-plated copper 50 cash. Obviously they know nothing about these coins, as the two are way different in size and weight.
Sending this one back to them.
