I honestly don't have a problem with it. This is America and we have the right to ask for any crazy amount when we go to sell our possessions. It is the job of the buyer to do the research and realize the prices are 10x too high and buy from someone else. I don't think this will sell.

Honestly, I have always believed that we are each responsible to take care of our money. If I pay 10x the value for something...I think the buyer and the seller are equally at fault. Is the seller ripping someone off...yes, but the buyer is allowing themselves to be ripped off.

Think about this scenario. Let's say I place a gold watch on the front seat of my car, leave the window down, and leave the car parked in a busy parking lot all day. When I come back to the car, the watch is probably gone. Was it wrong of the person who stole it...yes, but is it partly my fault for allowing it to be stolen...of course.

I look at this situation in the same way. The buyer needs to take the proper steps to ensure they aren't being stolen from.

Gasp - you actually expect the buyer to do some research. What is this world coming to!!! :) Just think that would probably put sgs out of business. :)

a $20 investment known as "the red book" goes a long way. are the prices high in that book? yes, we all know that. but even the red book prices say don't buy this. i feel bad for whoever bought it. the information/knowledge is out there if you are willing to spend 10 minutes to obtain it.

as for the situation you presented about the watch... i would feel bad for you. hopefully your parents, or a friend, or someone, told you leaving the windows down would be bad. the knowledge was offered. i would feel bad for you if you didn't follow that knowledge. this all, of course, is just my opinion. and we all know about opinions... ;)

People really should do research prior to dropping that kind of money for something. Most people wouldn’t purchase corporate stock without doing ‘due diligence’. Why would you jump in and purchase something that you have no idea about? I have to agree with CamaroDMD, we are each responsible for what we do with our money.

Don't think you have to buy it to write a review...

Yeah, the price would explain the company's name:OVERSTOCK (from lack of sales.)

Fortunately we do have a choice as to buying an item or passing. There are three 2011 S coins I need to complete a set and they are virtually impossible to find. I did find one EBAY seller that has all three and is asking $225.00 when the average price I paid for others within the set was $21.95 ea. One other seller has two of the quarters I need, and wants $199.00 each. They've been listed and are just sitting there now for months. So, I'll just keep looking until I find what I need at a reasonable price. I don't mind shelling out some bucks for a coins true value, but I'll quit coin collecting all together and start collecting ButterFinger wrappers before I'll pay those kind of prices.
