Just wondering what your favorite series is. My favorite is the Franklin Half, after that it is a close call between (Peace Dollar, CBH, and Bust Quarter). What is it that you like about the peace dollar? To me it is the look of the head. The spikes just look so cool. Have you ever looked through a loupe at the obverse of the peace dollar and noticed how 3 dimensional it is? The relief is very strong. I like the look of a blast white Peace dollar. The expression on the head is so powerful. It makes sense that it is called the peace dollar. The War to end all wars had finally come to a close. So many people had died a senseless death in trenches. Lady liberty prevailed. The booming 20's. Awesome. What is your favorite series and why? How about the V. how interesting.
<----------------Check my album and registry. I like Barber halves because they are hard to come by in F-AU. It is such a tough series with little respect.
I like them all, but the question is what do I like about the Peace Dollar? You don't have to get tons of them to get a complete set, and some of them command a good price in high grades.
Man I have a ton of respect for barber halves. That is what got me back into collecting. If you look at one of my first posts on CT I was asking about the value of a Barber Half. It had a full liberty, but had been harshly clean (was in a clasp).
My favorite design is the Walking Liberty half. Just the most beautiful full body design of Liberty. So elegant. What I like best about the Peace Dollar; the wind blown look of the hair. I think it makes this Liberty bust the most beautiful looking of all the busts of Liberty.
I like the Peace dollar too, its a small set but still not the easiest to complete. Its a big piece of silver and the I like the spiky hairpiece. When I'm stumped on my current sets I'm going to start on it. But right now my favorite is still the Morgan.
I like everything about them. Not only are they beautiful coins but they cost far less than Morgan Dollars in my experiences.
I have too many. I'm working to complete my Standing Liberty Qts. I'm not interested in getting a 1916 or a 1918/1917 s, only have three to go in my desired condition. a better 1921, 1927s, and to acquire a 1923s in the best condition as possible. The rest of the others rang from AU to MS65FH. Next I have been working on my Indian head cents, most of them in same condition as the Standing Liberties. I like others, as Fractional currency, MPC, and small currency. Too much for just one favorite. Just enjoy collecting.
Those are really nice. A quick question, how hard is it to find NT Peace dollars? I have looked around both online and in stores but I have yet to see a toned Peace.
I don't know. I had a peace dollar that had outstanding natural toning saved on my watch list for about a week or so. I intentionaly skipped the HA auction to win this coin. I was going to put 50% of my monthly coin budget into it. I got sniped so bad it wasn't funny.
