I was looking through my change and I came upon a strange looking quarter. It's a 1974 quarter, but you can see that there is a brownish copper look to it. At first I thought it was just rust or discoloration but as you move it around (especially in sunlight) the color moves too. Can anyone tell me what could of caused this and is it worth anything other than face value? WP_000128.jpg WP_000127.jpg

its just gunk/ build up, theres nothing special about it. my parents used to own a gumball company in the malls and we would get these all the time.

No, it's not gunk. It has a sort of rainbow effect. If you look at the coin from a certain angle there is no brown/copper color.

Old spray paint or some sort of paint? The coin is a '74 circulated so it's been handled.

Part of my quarter also colored in brown, is this a mint error or PMD?
