Not sure if this is an error or not? Very interesting. The only visible date is 197 Thoughts guys? TYVM

It is an error, it's called an off center coin, when the planchet is, well, off center when struck. I would venture to say it's from 1975 to 1979 but it's hard to tell from the pictures.

It looks like an off center strike to me.

Pretty cool find. I have heard of those errors, never seen one up close yet.

THanks guys, just thought it was kinda neat. I'll let them know to hang on to this one.

They are not that uncommon and those without a date (like yours) are not that much in demand. Even so I'd expect you might get $10 out of it.

Definitely a nice find, worth about $8, but boy! That is a nice example of off-center striking! :thumb:

Jason, I expect you will find these are valued based upon denomination, if there is a date showing, and percent offcenter. I would go to a large show when possible and go over every dealer there and look at their stock. Anything they might carry you might be seeing in the future. :)

Lots to learn. Gotta love it.

Definately an off-center error, worth about $10.

Lol, in one quick sentence I told you 100% of everything I knwo about them. The only errors I collect are ancients, and not on purpose, but its the only example I can find. :)

You will never see me as a dealer I am afraid. To be a dealer you have to sell your precious'. I am good at buying, not selling. Maybe my wife will be a dealer selling the junk I leave behind, (whatever I don't have buried with me that is).
