1997-D Lincoln YT on Head and other weird stuff going on!

Can anyone give me an idea on this one? There is a YT on Lincolns head, and raised metal forms around his head as well.

Glue.

 

look at the side shots and you can see it is metal and not glue. Also look at picture 4 of the YT. That sure doesn't look like glue to me its pretty clear its metal.

 

It is really hard to see what you are talking about with those angled photos.

It's definately not a hammer job . I definately agree with Hobo that it is glue , another coin has left the impression of the YT in the glue. don't feel bad if it is glue , I know that glue tricked me a few times when I started collecting error coins. keep on looking and you may find some great error coins.

Looks like glue.

 

Clear glue on a coin can look just like metal. Try a soak in either distilled water, rubbing alcohol, or acetone. None of them will hurt the coin, but if it is glue it will almost always either remove it or cause it to to take on a milky color. If it doesn't have any effect on it then it will be worth a much closer look.
