Even with them selling in the original box for ATLEAST $41 un-graded, Id say I did pretty good.

Subject matter has little to do with low mintages and having complete collections.

Agreed. I'm appalled and embarrassed as an American by his comment. Ignorance is truly bliss, but the armed forces and those that back them are the reason he has the RIGHT to make his comments. So, c'est la vie.

I think you actually did alright. Anytime your purchase price is under the current selling price, it has to be considered a plus. Depending on your investment strategy, you may want to consider selling many of them while they're in demand, if not, then your gamble begins. It appears you can liquidate these coins rather quickly now and turn a reasonable profit. I will save mine since I'm a collector and one is all that was necessary. But I'm sure anyone who bought more than one will flip them, it is the nature of the beast.




It also looks like I need to think of a good contest. It took just about two years.

 

It is nice to see modern commemorative coins get their "due" so to speak. I already own this coin, bought it directly from the US Mint. Nonetheless, it is nice to see such price appreciation.

I have been buying many silver and clad modern commemoratives over the past couple of months. Patience has brought some incredible bargains. I stay away from the certified coins and prefer original Mint packaging. They cost much less and just as beautiful.

I must credit both the US Mint for issuing the five-ounce silver "pucks," the 25th anniversary silver eagle set and the many good members here at Coin Talk for rekindling my partly-dormant coin collecting obsession. I love going to my post office box and finding a nice little bullion treasure trove when I pick up my mail each week.
