Opinions on this 1826 Bust Half

    Honestly I'd pass on the coin even at a bargain price. There are much better looking examples out there for the same money.

    NO!! Go way down to 97.20. (AT XF20) If its XF40 then go ahead at $175

    IMO VF 20 maybe higher.

    I wouldn't expect an R-3 to fetch a premium. i don't do halves but I know in the early copper often even R-4's won't really bring a significant premium. Premiums really seem to start at 4+ to 5-.

    Sort of what I figured if early coppers are any indication. Thought I would ask in any case..

    I love the look of it, it looks original but I'm not up to date on the price range of these as it is not my area of expertise, but I'd check Numismedia if it's raw and offer 10% back of guide for VF 30 or 35 money. Nice looking half.

    I agree with Lance - retoning over an old cleaning and not necessarily in a good manner. And I also agree with Doug - find a nice gun metal grey example in this date.
