pumpkinpie what is this I don*t even

Barber half dollar obverse.jpg Barber half dollar reverse.jpg I got a 1905 Barber 1/2 Dollar Similar to this one today at the coin store. The coin pictured is PCGS graded VG-8. I would have an actual picture but when it comes to taking coin pics, the digital camera I have access to is worth its weight in dog poop. I needed it to fill a hole in my 20th Century Type Set and I couldn't spend the money on an 1897-S, the only other one they had. I paid $20 for it. I've heard 1905's are a better date. (if the 0 in the date looks a bit off that's because it was a picture of a 1915 so I entered in a 0 with a photo editing program.)

  3. Yes, 1905 is a better date Barber Half. If it looks like the coin pictured with minimal marks and strong VG detail, then I believe 20$ was a good investment.

He borrowed a picture to use, not the coin in hand from my understanding.

As for the 1905, yeah, that's a good date. Only 662k minted. The O only had 505k minted. I like all the Barber coins, I've been purchasing them when I come across one I find appealing. I actually nabbed a 1901 Dime graded at VF35 today, impulse buy, was sitting there on top of search list for all U.S. Coins with like 20 seconds left. Here's a picture from the auction:

I actually don't usually bother with slabbed/graded coins either when purchasing. I also recently got a 1909 Barber Half in Fine condition for a really reasonable price as well, another impulse buy.

  5. Which is why I stated "If it looks like the coin pictured..."

Heh, I read your post but for some reason that portion just didn't register. It's late and I've been remodeling the master bathroom, so perhaps all the paint fumes are making my head a little funny ;)

  7. They may be close in mintage, but the 05-O is much, much, much harder to find problem free in F and above. It's one I have been trying to find for a while.

    I would, but I disable signatures. ;)

Yeah, the ones found from searching eBay are all AG, G or VG, then that MS popped up. Nothing in between, that's a bummer.
