    Two finds today.

First, is this 1985 $1, St Louis. It seems like whenever I find '80's notes in circ, they are either series 1985, or 1988A:

Then, Found this 2006 IA-C block $20. It's a bank find, with a pretty neat serial number. Not sure if I'm going to keep it, though. Thoughts on this one?

Dumped alot of coins today and went through $600 in $1's. Kept a 2001 Dallas note and 2006 Richmond low serial that isn't in the best shape: E00005410H

Also received a 1988A Atlanta note in change from one of the banks which I kept: F24542444A

What block is the '01 Dallas? Is it worthy condition? Nice '88A FA. I have found to date on 1988A FA $1 strap searching. 4 digit serial numbers are always cool finds. Pictures/scans are always appreciated to keep things interesting!;)

Okay, apparently there are no thoughts on this one.

    Oh well.

    Merry Christmas, all! :D

It has a unique serial number and it is an SOI test note, so it is unique in those ways. In the end, it boils down to your financial situation. Do you have the $ to keep this? If it were a $1, I'd instantly call it a keeper, but $20 is another story. Myself, I'd keep it. Nice '85 $1. Not bad for circulation find.

What are you going to do with that $20? Merry Christmas to you as well, jlg1130.:D

    Hey t-bud,

Thank you for taking the time to give me your thoughts.

For now, I'm keeping the $20. I've added it to my collection, but it has been flagged as emergency money. I keep a log on my computer, of all the notes in my collection, as a way to keep track of everything.
Some notes, such as the ones with so-so collector value, have a notation next to them, in the log, that they may be spent, if I face an absolute emergency.

Then, there are others that are never to be spent under any circumstances.

So yeah, that $20 is staying put for the foreseeable future. Also, thanks for the comments on that $1, as well.
I'm always finding '85 $1's, for some reason. Those, and '88A's seem to always come my way.

Btw, the stamp on that $2 says: "I got this 2 dollar bill in H-e-l-l, Michigan".

    :)

I just picked these up today. Got the 50 from a bank teller. I know the 50 looks pretty bad but until i find a better one i will keep it. I got the 5 from a BEP strap.

The 2001 is K-B block. If I were able to post pics directly to this website I would definitely be putting more of them up but having to resize, then post to Photobucket then link here is a pain. If I feel motivated later I will!

Nice finds, but what series are they? My guesses are located below. Did you find them in circulation or were they strap finds?

    C 04858883 * 2001

Found them in a strap I got this morning, I wanted new bills and they didn't have any so the teller asked me if I wanted circulated. At first I thought no, then decided to take them.... good decision.

    IC 82686028 A 2006
I found this in a tip jar at the store. The bill was in a position that I could see the serial # and I asked the clerk if I could swap. She shook her head yes with a kind of puzzled look on their face until I told her I was a collector.

Pretty good day and all of this while I was running errands for the holiday!

By the way, good guesses. I don't think I could have figured it out. Whats the secret? :)

Tonight I found my first note that hasn't been reported as printed by the BEP. It was printed after August sometime. There's been alot of firsts this month, this was a fun find indeed.

just pulled a 1988A web note, atlanta district, in vf-xf condition. the print quality is pretty poor though (for example, all the letters in the banner "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" bleed down noticeably). i can't post a pic now because my other computer is down, and it holds the scanner software. mayber later this afternoon...?
