    But I picked up this 1864 2 Cent Piece for $5 at an auction tonight.:D

    okay, here's my attempt on grading:
    Obverse: AG due to wear on the rim and no date seen
    Reverse G Slightly worn on the 6 o' clock area, and some spots of the elements eating the metal away at the 3 o' clock area.

    But it is a nice find for $5!

    You have to give it a overall grade, can't have a grade for each side.

    This coin was likely cleaned at one time as well. Still a nice pickup though.

    I can remember the first 2c piece I bought. It was 1983-ish. I think I paid $10 for a VF example in the cull bin -- and I was as happy as you were. Still have that coin somewhere.

    Neat find!

    That coin has an odd wear pattern to my eye -- I would have expected the date to still be visible.
