    Goldcoinlover,
I believe the reason more people did not bid on your item was due to your lack of feedback. Unfortunately for the honest folks on ebay, there are so many scammers out there, that until you have spent a good bit of time on ebay and built up a good reputation, you will have difficulty in selling your items for the proper price.

Wish I had seen it as I would have bid more for it. The photos may have had something to do with it as well. I think it was a combination of what Zaneman said and the photos. I bought a nice 76 Dcam proof today to add to my small but growing collection. It's slabbed by pcgs as a dcam 69 so it's a pretty safe buy (i hope). Good full clear focused photos of the obverse and reverse really help me when I'm looking.

    Good Luck!

    Goldcoinlover,

Good luck with the photo's. As you can see from other posts people have a hard time getting good shots.

I know its frustrating. I've lost over $200 buying and selling on ebay (mostly from selling) since I began 2 years ago.[IMG]

But...I've had large profits too. Just give it time.

P.S. Feedback score does play a big role in the bidding. If I were you I'd get some quick feedbacks from buying/selling some low priced items.

Agreed. There isn't much reason why anyone would want to trust a seller with zero feedback. Would you like to buy some expensive coins from someone with zero feedback? Answer: Not really especially with the large number of scammers these days. Not saying you are but you got to understand what made it such the bid value so low.

A good policy will be "Do like what others want from you as what you want from them". It can't be too hard to understand - if you want to buy something good, you want clear pictures and reputable feedback. The same applies to buyers - they want decent pictures and reputable feedback from the seller

If you do plan on selling more, I recommand you to start off with lower valued coins or buy more so that you can show to the ebay community that you are worthy.

Could you have set a starting bid?

Yes, he could have set a starting bid or a reserve (minimum selling price). There are many things he could have done to help sell this at a higher price including how it was promoted. It's a learning experience.

Too bad you did'nt get much money. The coin could probaly get at least $50 is sold by a big dealer.

    A couple of comments.

Yes, the low feedback may have hurt but probably not a whole lot since the item is not overly expensive.

The pictures, even in the edited auction, leave alot to be desired. Lose the 2X2 when you are shooting the picture. The plastic causes a lot of reflections and distracts from the coin. You really can't tell that the coin is a cameo in those shots. You will find that shooting proofs is difficult. Your close up work is good though.

The description could have used a little work but was acceptable.

I think the real problem was that it was listed in te wrong section. You should have listed it with the half dollars rather than in the errors section. I assume yo listed it with the errors because of the DDO. But all of the AH halves are from DDO dies and it is not a major DDO so t doesn't create much excitement aong error collectors. On the other hand there is a good following among Kennedy half collectors for the AH coins. But they scour the half dollar section and probably missed it in the error section. You will notice that the bid is already better for that coin because it is where they can find it easily.

I agree 100% with all of that (very good advice) - but even in a 2X2 you can do better than you have with better promotion and a good feedback record. When I buy halves it's from looking exclusively in the half section unless I just happen to see one in the coin section just before it closes. Look at this auction 320096315821. It's in the right place, well promoted including the different size and color fonts. The photos are great even in the 2x2.

You really need to get some feedback and get beyond the 30 day new user status. The best way to get good feedback is to buy some inexpensive stuff you want and pay for it very quickly. It's better to buy for other eBay users that have good feedback and are not power sellers. Power sellers sell to much stuff to consistently leave feedback.

Glad to see you have more interest in your second auction.

    Good Luck...
