Hey guys. This was one of my gifts yesterday. As you can see, it's graded by PCGS and got a VF-20. Underneath that it says "The Rickey Collection". I was wondering if this would have been graded for our Rickey? Rickey B? That would be awesome.

Anyway, it looks nicer than a VF-20 to me. Light corner fold. No heavy creases. I think it's very comparable to a higher graded one. One of my side projects is a 1914 coin and currency collection because it was such a cool year. I'm sure I'm not the first one to do it because it was a great year for coins and currency. Planning on getting an album going on here once I get a few more pieces.

No, this is actually from the Dave Rickey collection - he is a dealer of US paper money that is based in San Diego and sells via his website and eBay.

Dave and Brenda Rickey (DBRCurrency.com) once had a collection of over 93% of all possible large-size Friedberg numbers. The collection consisted of approximately 450 notes valued at approximately $15 million!

That is good to know, I had also seen some of those notes and wondered.

There are those of us that are privileged enough to own some of the RickieB notes though - some were in the Heritage auction in the fall of 2010 and I picked up one that fits my collecting theme.

    Vess1:

That is a lovely note and you should be very proud to add it to your collection.
I am afraid to say it is not from my collection, however, I would have been proud to own it.

My Large Size Collection was based on the New York Fed Reserve Bank...I am sad to say that it was all sold to support my medical needs.

SM... I am happy to know that several collectors here were kind enough to add part of my collection to theirs!
It is good to know that many of my notes landed in good hands of many of you here. Thank you!

RB: I wanted the note anyway since it is a crossover interests note - postbellum evasion note and has the obligatory feminine vignette.

BTW glad you are visiting with us for the holidays

Seeing a beautiful note like that always makes me want to really dive into collecting paper money.

booaaaa I'm still stuck on the 15 million part!!! Yea, I can see having one of just about everything!
I don't know? I think I would focus on just the rarest sig in the highest grade for every type, charter, etc.
Could you even comprehend being able to drop an unlimited amount at an auction? Screw depreciating Lambo's & Bentley's, this couple was smart, and I bet they got every cent back and than some!

That is one beautiful note Vess1! The grade probably reflects some sort of restoration or cleaning? I know PMG labels that, but I'm not sure if PCGS does. Cause it does look wayyy better than a 20? Looks more like an XF, and from my reading any sort of cleaning or restoration drops it one full grade. Without it in my hands I'm just guessing why its only a 20...
That is one of the best looking 1914 in a VF-20 I've ever seen!

yes this is a nice looking note but for me the best i have seen was when i seen the bebee collection at the ANA museum in Colorado Springs he has the best and biggest collectoin there is and most of his notes are used in the red book of today but his notes will never be sold as he like to give them to museums and let others have the joy of looking at them for a long time to come
i look back at many of his notes from time to time and use them when some one here will ask something (like i remember some time ago some one had 3 100 dollar notes and one note had some writeing on the back side on the eage of the note. after looking at the bebee notes i seen many of the great collecters do this why i don't know ) but no one ever said a thing about this little fact
here is a link to an intervuiew he did for cointv.com
    http://www.ana-museum.org/bebees.html
and just some of his notes
but then any ANA member would have known about them and many are here at CT

Are you saying these Gems are 40 minutes away from my house? Wow! I really need to get down there! I remember Hobo, which lives down there said something about a floor tour of the Denver Mint! I need to get off my but!
I was sort of disappointed with the American History Museum in DC? I know they have 50 zillion more notes in the back away from the public. They do have some cool ones out front that appeal to the collectors and laymen.
Believe it or not, I was in that little area so long security showed up to make sure I wasn't going to jack their W.Wilson 100,000 gold cert, and or '33 Double Eagle? Be warned it's not a very big area! 8'x5' or so, but the quality is incredible!
There is also a W.Wilson 100,000 gold cert over at the B.E.P. DC gift shop! That one fellows is Jackable! LOL We have to work as a team..........

Mission Impossible 5: We jack the 100,000 Gold Cert from the B.E.P, sale it and buy a horde of 1886 Silver Certs! Tombstone, Morgan back, and Manning - BABY! Oh and we all get a Lime Green Groover and McKinley in Unc!
Mission Impossible 6: We jack the Bebee's collection!
