fair price for some cc??

    Ok have a chance to pick up some cc coins from my uncle tomorrow...
    he tends to grade his coins a little high.. im more into buying towards bullion but if this is a good deal ill jump..

    Fisrt is a 1883 cc ex fine.. asking 105
    second is a 1878 cc asking 86..

    I have no pics.. really just trying to see if these prices are in the right ball park.. he is my uncle and prob wont screw me but better safe then sry! Thanks

    Normal prices for CC mint marks seems to be anywhere from $80 to $100 for EF. If you like the coins and you want to collect them I would say its a fair price.

    the '78cc is a better deal, if it's the same condition. they are harder to come by. the '83-84cc can be had in BU for about $175-190 a much better coin for a bit more money. but the '82-82-84cc morgans are the most common by far in unc. so i would get the '78 at those prices

    You don't indicate what denomination coins you are considering but I assume you are talking about Morgan Dollars.

    those are the only ones made at CC in both those years. ;)

    In Hobo's defense, the OP didn't specify which denomination or whether he was even talking about silver or gold. The Carson City Mint also struck dimes, quarters and half dollars in 1878 and half eagles, eagles and double eagles in both 1878 & 1883.

    In Hobo's defense, the OP didn't specify which denomination or whether he was even talking about silver or gold. The Carson City Mint also struck dimes, quarters and half dollars in 1878 and half eagles, eagles and double eagles in both 1878 & 1883.
