I have some 1888 Morgan silver dollar coins that have been sealed in a "International Investment Coins" container. They are 1888 - O BU

They coins appear to be in very good condition. Looking at http://coinauctionshelp.com/How_To_Grade_Morgan_Dollars.html I would say they are in the AU - MS area but it is hard for me to determine what the exact grade it. I know the silver is worth around $22 but I am hoping that there is a collective value.

Mind providing us with photos of your coin(s)? We can attribute them for you. There are a few popular VAM's (die varieties that add value to the coin) for that particular date. :)

Two of the cases were opened and the coin came from one of those. The ones still in the package should be in better shape. It is worth opening the packages and looking at each coin to find VAM's?

These look like original rolls! If you don't mind sharing, where exactly did you obtain these coins?

If the tubes are sealed shut, I don't recommend opening them quite yet. Eventually, once it is determinded if keeping the coins within the containers effects the value (because I honestly couldn't tell you if it does), it'd be a good idea to check for die varieties... Many for this particular date can command a hefty premium.

Judging the photos you've provided of the example coin, I'd say it's an MS62, making it a $50-$60 coin... But if these are infact original rolls, who knows how high-grade the coins within may be! In MS65, this date is worth a whopping $600!

These do look like what we would call BU rolls. You really can't determine if the roll is original or not without examining the coins to see how many die pairs are present. In a "original BU roll" you would only expect to find 3-5 different die pairs that struck all the coins. BU rolls are popular and common date rolls trade at $800-$1200 depending on the average grade of the coins.

There were in a lady's garage I think they were originally from her husband. Im trying to help her find out how much they are worth and possible sell them. There are also 43 $1 bills from 1957 and 2 $1 1935 (E) & (G) and 1 $5 1963. (They are silver certificate dollars) There is also a bag with old dimes nickels quarters and half dollars but I have not gone threw those yet.

Would brining them in to a place to get them appraised be a good idea and if so how can I find a good place to get them looked at?

Thanks for the welcome I have been interested in coins I have a small collection from when I was little. I'm just doing some research to find out what she has. What other steps should I do to find their value?

Yes... Have them appraised before you even think of making a sale. Chances are good that you'll find a gem or two in 'em rolls! :)

Yeah thanks I obviously won't be able to get someone to look at them until after christmas, but I'll post what they say. If anyone has any thoughts about them I would love to hear them.
