Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

    $11 BWR Cents
2 later wheats and 175 coppers making it around 16% copper (I don't count 1982 coppers)
I hate those plastic (I call them condom) rolls, sure wish they would do the paper rolls, oh well. Sure beats nothing.

Oh my goodness Hockey, I'm so sorry. I'm in a "half" state of mind so I just assumed you wanted to search for halves. My apologies. I'm not sure about other coins. My husband searches nickels and finds a lot of stuff he wants to keep. I search dimes and find not only silver but some really cool die cracks (see my picture)

So yeah, I'd say it's worth it. Anytime you can find cool coins for face value it's a good thing.

    ?

Huh? $200 for a beat up 1964 Kennedy half? Can you please provide a link or something where that has happened? I searched all completed listings on Ebay and could not find anything. Why would a beat up coin sell for more than a pristine coin? Sorry - but that just does not make sense!

Another box of pennies and besides the coppers which this box was loaded with almost half of the pennies were copper. Also found 16 wheaties including a 1928 s small mint mark.

:) I do not think they were talking about an ebay auction, but about a standing offer from another collector.

Different people find different things attractive in coins, is the thing. Some want as high of a grade as possible, some prefer toned coins, and some (myself included) LOVE the look of WORN coins. Definitely not "beat up"... - that's just plain ugly. But coins worn down from simply being handled/circulated so much, that most people would simply pass off as a cull, have a certain draw to them. A majesty, or dignity, that mint-state coins simply lack.

My favorite coins I own, are the most worn. Not dinged, dented, bent, scratched, or otherwise ugly - just worn smooth over time. Usually with most major elements still visible, often from different colors of toning or tarnish (lol). There is just something about them. They are beautiful.

Not everyone's cup of tea, though :p

    Recent searching:
box of quarters - skunk (I knew better... 1 silver quarter EVER from searching, and it was in a $1000 bag)
    box of dimes - 1x '64
    box of dimes - 1x '64
box of dimes - 2x '64, 1x '61, and 2 cruel jokes (Yay! Silv... dang it! Canadian!) ;)

    today - $1000 bag of halves -
    7x perfect '64 kennedy,
    2x perfect '65,
    2x perfect '66,
    9x '67 (7 perfect),
    3x '68d (1 perfect),
    3x '69d.
    3x '74d DDO.
    1x 81s proof

so 7x 90% and 19x 40%. And, god only knows why, 3x DDO.

Ok, it's time to look into something other than ziplocks for my coins - advice please? These coins are so outstanding, I cannot believe they were in a bag with other coins!

The good news - this time, I got $999.50 in halves, 1 quarter, and one weird religion token. So I was only $0.25 short ;) Last time I was $16 short, so I'm happy :D

Hey group! I'm new to the forum and CRH in general, and just went through two boxes of halves and a box of quarters this week.

The quarters were a bit of a disappointment, only producing 12 bicentennials and no silver. The first box of halves spit out one Franklin, one '64 Kennedy, seven 65-69 Kennedys, and one Kennedy proof. I was pretty happy with this.

The second box of halves was a score! 25 65-69 Kennedys, 8 Kennedy proofs, 2 64 Kennedys, and 1 Franklin.

No date stamp Moon - it was 5395 or something like that. 4 out of last 7 have been skunks.

That second box of halves yesterday ended up being a skunk.
Box 1 - 1964 heavily tarnished and someone prob missed
    Box 2 - Skunk
    Running total of last 8 boxes = 1 x WLH and 1 X 1964
no 40% er's in 8 boxes?? kind of strange to me
Looking forward to the 6 I have lined up next week from a different area of the state

I use ziplocks for common wheats, flips for BU coins worth more than melt, and plastic rolls for all silver and others.

Normally I do 1-2 boxes on a good week but I was off work this week so I decided to search 4 boxes. 4 Skunks later sigh... I picked up more silver dimes and nickels than halves this week. Found 2 more roosies today and a few halves one of my tellers saved for me.

Tried to get a box of dimes after cashing my check. Got denied becaue they needed them for their business customers. I'm hoping maybe I get out a little early so I can dump some halves and pick up some coin!
