Alright, I did some poking around, all '55's were intended to circulate, but mintages were extremely low.

    Got it. My bad.

Merc....what do you mean? I've never heard of someone selling these....

Get 'em slabbed and sell them. Bought a '64 Kennedy for melt from my dealer, I have a standing offer of at least $150 if it slabs as FR2 or worse, which it will. :) Coins you don't see real worn down oftentimes draw a nice premium if you can get them slabbed as problem free.

Picking up my weekly 3 boxes of halves today. 2 of the 3 boxes I picked up last week were dated 11/28 so maybe these will be December boxes this time filled with Grandma's WLHs!

I'm not getting this...If I have a worn down 1964 Kennedy it will carry a premium? Why, just because you don't see them that often? Please help me get a grasp on this one?

Pocket peice? Can someone explain what this means? I'm at a loss when it come to searching for numi value. I hate to throw any valuble coins back in circulation on the one hand. On the other hand I don't really know what i'm doing and it takes sooooooo much longer than just rim searching for silver! That posted pic of the DDO is another example. Even in the pic I can't really tell that it is an error coin. It has to be really obvious for me to see it!!

how many of you examine EVERY coin?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe by "pocket piece" he literally means a coin that has been in someones pocket for decades. Some people keep a silver dollar or half dollar (bigger coin) in their pocket every day for luck. Being handled non-stop they get worn to almost slicks despite being a relatively newer coin.

    FYI, here's what a $150 '64 Ken looks like...

If it gets into a PO1 slab, the offer is $200. :)

    DMOTT:
I used to return taped coin rolls after rim searching in the very beginning of my searching. Then I all but got chased out the bank the last time I did that, with the lady saying they still had the last $800 in dimes in their vault that I had brought to them a week earlier. I also brought in a lot of half dollars like this too. She got very angry, I tried reporting them to the higher ups at the bank but they said it was up to the individual branch to set their policies regarding accepting rolled coin.

Went into PNC yesterday for the 2nd time in a week and teller that had once saved me a half, even though I didn't ask her to save it specifically for me, rejected me for the for the halves in her tray. She gave me the same excuse last Friday. She said she is saving them for some guy. Got a little annoyed after this happened again. Now I'm either threatening to close acct or might start bringing rolled coin to dump there. That is more of a nuisance though as I usually dump at machines. I don't want to be too big of a jerk but what the heck.

I've thrown back about 3 Kennedys that looked just like that, Merc. Man, that sucks.

Were they silver Kens? If so, that seems an odd thing to do.

That thing looks sweet. It makes me want to start carrying one on the daily. Thanks for sending me to school on this topic. We have a trucking rep (18 wheeler) that comes into my office often. He is non-stop jingling the coins in his pocket so he must have something like this. I'm going to ask him next time he is in.

Worth noting that certain years seen as more desirable by lowballers will demand more of a premium, I'm assuming that's the case with this coin. I'd say you could probably get $50 easy for a FR2 clad Kennedy, though.
