Nice dropped letter. It's actually a retained dropped letter as all of the black die fill is present and fills up what would otherwise be an incuse G.
Wow, that's a pretty spectacular clash Rigo. I can't help but notice that the clash is not found on the highest relief parts of the design. This goes back to something rascal and everyone else have been arguing about for a while now.
That is cool, Rigo, but it doesn't look a thing like that other one that was posted. As I said before, with that strong a clash, you must surely see some evidence of it in the left obverse field, like yours. That is the last thing I will ever say about it. Chris
Why not 'put up', rascal? If you are right, you'd be able to thumb your nose at us and have us on our knees, begging for forgiveness at your excellence in knowledge. Of course, if they were NOT what you think they are, we'd never see you again...your 45 years of knowledge would be put out with the trash, and I don't think your ego could take that. I had Mike look at a coin for me...I covered the postage....trust me, when he looksat a coin, he judges it fairly.....if he didn't, do you think he'd have a column every week in CW? Your imaginary expert doesn't have a column....but you trust him. Oh, you still haven't named him yet....maybe you should invite him to join here so HE could 'school' us right. YOUR own site??? If Kasia was your administrator (I think you mean moderator....but, just like error/variety...we know you get mixed up, so thats ok)...if Kasia was your whatever you want to call it, there would be a total membership of 2...you and Kasia. THEN who would you have to brag to about your $12 'error' rips in ICG holders from ebay??? Challenging Lee is not smart at all. Lee has forgotten more than you 'll ever learn, and given your age, you SHOULD know by now, but don't. Lee, just post that Ike discovrery piece you got, then explain how much more that discovery piece is worth, over rascal's $12 victory? Show him how imppressive THAT bad boy is. Oh, and that discovery piece is in a PCGS holder, not an ICG hollder, isn't it, Lee??? Yiu had it graded by PCGS because, I forget...oh, wait, you submitted it to them because they get it RIGHT. Rascal, Lee (19Lyds to you) would post coins that would make yours look like Monopoly money. That Ike discovery piece, well, it's a freakin DISCOVERY PIECE...do YOU have any of THOSE after your, what, 50 years of searching for errors (or varieties...I keep getting them mixed up...it's easy to mix them up, isn't it?)...but, you'd find reason to think PCGS got it wrong anyway. Don't call out Lee...coin for coin, he'd make your 'errors' look like they were merely change from a 5 gal water jug you were going to roll up, cash in at the bank, and use for vacation money. Please, please, please start your own site SOON, so that this one can get back to normal?????? Make certain you let us know when it's done!
Hey kido I didn't know we was trying to play with our toys and see who's best. What the heck is wrong with you ? was you abused and bullied at school or what kind of problem do you have. I'm not trying to bother you in any way on this CT forum so why be so nasty towards me ? If it will help you any I have some discovery pieces that are slabbed and labeled as such that was discovered by me but what kind of a big deal is that? what you are doing is totally stupid and not worth anything to anyone. You are sticking that big foot in your mouth deeper and depper with each post you author. You should give me a chance to get this coin sent in and reslabbed if it is not labeled right before coming down on me so hard. there is one more type of error it has a good chance of being and you are not giving me time to do anything. I'm not going to play this little kids game with you like trying to say who's toys is best. this is definately my last post to you. Troy
I think you people are getting way too personal. Criticize the coin being discussed or idea, not the people. That's the golden rule, none of this ad hominem crud.
thanks for this great post . You sure have got it right. I should not have let this person get under my skin so much but a person can only take so much when this same poster posts the same old crap over and over and over again . Troy
Rule #2 states: "2 – Personal attacks are not permitted. All Coin Talk members, young, old and in between, will treat all other members with respect and be civil at all times. You are expected to act as responsible individuals, there will be no name calling or flame wars." I'd say in the future, just report it for a moderator to handle if you felt a member crosses the line with getting too personal.
You might wish to consider amending your rules to permit the expulsion of members who aggressively and persistently peddle misinformation.
I actually agree with you. I have been saying in other posts that no matter what certain collectors believe, there is no reason to disrespect their opinions. I feel bad for those who have so many years on the forums, but show so little professionalism when replying towards others threads/posts. I'm not saying I haven't made that mistake maybe a couple of times. However, I have learned to read and understand how a member feels about "their coin". I also feel ashamed of the ones who are "NEW" members (no naming) and have so many posts in a short period of time but all of a sudden, bash on other members, just because older members feel it is ok to do so. If this thread or any other that rascal has started, that you think should be closed, should not be because of him. But IMO, it should be because of the lack of respect and childish act from others. As mature collectors, if you don't agree with a member ( although you were correct), you should be smart enough to move on. Bad information is wrong. However, a newbie should quickly learn from other opinions what is more likely to be true and accurate. I am one against bad information and confusing a newbie but we all learn the same way. I don't care how much of a "professional" you believe you are or what "reputation" you have. Another does not have the rights (or shouldn't) to bash others opinions, or get personal towards what they believe, period. Coming out of Rigo. I am nothing but a simple coin collector who enjoys coin collecting and learning from others, unlike many at the same time. I like to teach and don't force anyone to accept what I believe is true or not.
out of every post I have read on this CT forum since I have been on here this post makes more common sense that all the rest of all the other posts on here combined. Riggo If folks would stop and read your post and try to learn from it this would be a awesome forum for folks to show their coins on and other folks including me could actually probably learn something they didn't know. I have even has someone tell me they were afraid to show a coin on here for fear of being called names and put down or what they said indicated this . If folks could learn to talk nice to each other then we could probably find out if a unusal coin was a PMD coin or a real error or variety coin. With all the name calling it is hard to do anything because of the distractions.. Troy W
First off, I was never bullied or picked on as a kid, and I grew up in a very respectful household. I had a whole reply towards your 'friendly' post, but decided to not post it...it would only make you pick on me more. I'm no kid, trust me, and I DON'T back down to anyone. With that said... You think you are being attacked, but you aren't. You are bringing it on yourself. You post things you insist are one thing, yet when you are told, 'nope, not an error', you go on the defensive. Just like when you challenged 19Lyds to show his coins after he gave his OPINION....you DID challenge him to show some of his coins, did you not? If you'd stop posting EVERY COIN YOU FIND, or arguing with experts, or those who simply DO know the diagnostics on what may or may NOT be an error, and took the advice you, yourself, sought here, people wouldn't be all over everything you post. You claim to have a friend who is an expert. Most of us who have been involved in the hobby for awhile, KNOW who the experts are. When asked to name him, you refused....you set yourself up with statements like that. By refusing to send a coin in for authentication, it makes it seem like you think you know more than the TPG's know. Now, I understand $$ can be a major decision maker in that area. Not knowing your financial situation (which is none of my business, I know), error or variety attribution CAN get costly, especially if it is determined to NOT be what you thought it was. IMO, if you want to be/have your posts be more informational, and allow new/newer collectors to benefit fom it...don't be so insistent that, to those who DO know, and have given an opinion, they are simply wrong. I hope you can take this post as to what it's meant to be....there were a number of former members who did just as you are doing, and it brought out exactly what is being posted, by a good majority. I know we are ALL proud of our acquisitions, and first rule of collecting is 'enjoy what you collect'. You obviously DO enjoy it...but by trying to MAKE us see what you see, if we disagree, well, that isn't helpful in your ultimate goal of being informational. We ENJOY when we see a newp, a freshly graded error, new variety, etc. You CLAIM to have them, but even YOU don't/can't know for sure without authentication. An unnamed expert is no expert. Personally, if you were less abrasive and insistent (I'm NOT trying to be insulting or confrontational by saying that), and took other's comments with a grain of salt, your posts COULD be used as knowledge for the fledgling/new collector, but when you refuse to take an opinion that differs from yours, you get all bent. If you think those that said 'hammer job', or 'PMD' did it to insult you, you are wrong. It seems you are only polite when someone agrees with you. Take the 'ICG got it right' post. There was no need to start a NEW post about it (and, trust me, ICG has a rep that isn't that great....I just got crossover grades from PCGS, an MS67 silver Washington quarter, graded MS67, couldn't even get a PCGS MS65...so, their grading is WAY off)...also, resiident experts have freely admitted that designated errors in other TPG slabs are mis-designated...they are NOT mint erors, but simply damaged coins. Personally, I'd LOVE to see you come up with something that would make our jaws drop. As far as your 'toys' comment, it seems YOU are trying to convince US that YOUR toys are special toys. We ALL have coins we are proud of, but we don't try to choke the forum with them all. I'll lay off...but remember, I'm not the only one that has a problem with your incessant insistence everything you show us is special. Not ALL of them are, but the last one, yes, it's interesting. Lastly, don't bring up anyones upbringing, or accuse/ask if they were bullie, picked on, etc....I find those that are overly insistent about things are usually the ones that were bullied/picked on. I'll end this by apologizing for anything I said that made you take offense. I wouldn't normally do that, but you DO seem to have a genuine love for your coins, so, I'll just offer up all I've said here and perhaps we can start from scratch...that's assuming you'll accept my apology. One thing I learned long ago, if you don't have anything nice to say to someone, don't say anything. I got caught up in it, and violated that rule of thumb. I can't speak for those that were as adamant and perhaps insulting as I was, but I'll leave it out there for you to decide if you will accept my apology or not.
I usually never go back on my word but I'm going to make a exception this time since you have apoligized to me and I accept your apoligy. We did this one time before not very long ago and you broke our agreement within a few hours. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could use my coin to maybe help us learn how to tell the difference between a hammer / squeeze coin and a real error coin if it was to turn out to be a genuine error like I think it may be. For now I'm just going along with what I believe and what I have been told and what ICG called this coin. I'm still in the process of looking at it and sometimes a coin has to be studied for a while. I have noticed a few things about the coin I missed at first...I may try to put this coin on the Coneca site so folks over there can see it and try my best to get some better photos. now this time why don't we try to remain friends and learn from each other. Troy EDIT: I'm sorry about getting you mixed up with someone else. the other person that broke our promise a while back has a user name similar to yours. Have a Happy Holidays
The bottom line is: Collect what you like. Defend your beliefs. Believe in yourself. Have a Merry Christmas! :hail: Happy Holidays to all! Joe
