Gotta love those pocket pieces... worn enough, they're worth well more than silver. :)

I have a question for the nickel searchers out there. For those of you who pull pre-'60, what do you plan on doing with them? I have about $20 worth now, and although its not a lot and its not a problem with that money being tied up there, I am just wondering why/if I should keep them. I thought maybe when I decided to get rid of them I could sell them on ebay for 2x face or something. Then I saw the completed listings and someone just sold a bag of 4000 pre-'60 for $225, so after fees he broke-even. Should I just start keeping the key dates ('38D, '38S, '39D, '39S, '50D), and obviously any buffalo and silver?

I thought '55-S was intended for circulation; the mintage of it exceeds those of the '55 and '55-D.

3 boxes of dimes, $150 in BWDimes, $40 in CWDimes, and $100 in CWQuarters:

    Quarters: Skunk
    $40 in CWD's: 1 Rosie
    $150 in BWD's: 2 Rosies
    Box 1: 3 Rosies
    Box 2: 1 Rosie
    Box 3: Skunk

7 Rosie day, but a bit disappointed that Box 3 was a skunk.

I've only found one in a roll. Pretty sure they're NIFC.

I'm just hoarding them. I'm up to $230 face or so now. Lol.

Really? Are you sure? I know it was the last year before the SF mint's long hiatus, and they only made dimes and cents that year, but I can't find anything saying that the dimes weren't issued for circulation. I've certainly found enough circulated examples.

When I go through a box of nickels I will set-aside all pre-1960s, record the dates for my stats and then reroll them back into the box unless they are war nickels, better date (such as a 1950D, which I haven't found) or in very high-grade of condition (which applies for all dates up into the 1990s). Why keep a bunch of well-circulated 1940P/1958D etc. nickels which are still easily found in circulation?

Circulated '55-S's? I've just never seen them out here, really... combined with the fact that the '55 and '55-D are NIFC, I assumed the -S was as well, but I certainly could be incorrect.

What do you guys do with the coins after they've been searched? Re-roll and cash out at the dump banks or just carry in a bag o coin?

My dump bank has counting machines so I just dump en masse in their machines. Spread it around over a couple branches, and it's all good.

I also dump amounts into coinstar and get a giftcard to do my grocery shopping with it's money I would've spent at the store anyway so it lessens the load on my bank and no fee's with gc.

The only branch that has a coin counter are the branches I have the most success with. Although, on the other end of town they do have other branches with counters that I dump at. I went and open another account at a bank that has 3 branches here in town. Only one has a counter and they usually hold it overnight which puts a screaming halt to the process. I am trying to figure out a way to keep the flow going without having to kill the gas tank. Have you ever just cut the rolls open then tape them back up after rim searching? Do you think they'd get detoured by that?

    That's good to know.

People who cut and tape the rolls suck and I hope they get nothing but skunks. Don't be "that guy."

Should I sell Indian head pennies in a set or one by one? Found an X F 1885

That's something I probably should read up on, '55 dimes were not intended to circulate? For the record, I have found one '55-D before (the funny thing is, after 49 rolls of skunks, it was waiting for me in the last roll of that box).

Now you're starting to scare me.

If an article like this one doesn't mention 1955 dimes being NIFC, where are you seeing information indicating that they were?

For that matter, this page explicitly states that "The lowest mintage coin issued for circulation was the 1955 Roosevelt Dime". Since I don't know where they got their information, I don't necessarily take their word over yours, of course. But if the 1955 dimes really were NIFC, there ought to be sources somewhere that say so. I can't find any. I certainly don't remember seeing any note to that effect in the Red Book or other sources, although I don't have them handy at the moment...
