Liberty Half Dollar with A and L stamped on face

    Just asking, I am assuming someone stamped the letters A and L on the head side of the coin while in circulation.

    A picture would help, but from your description, it sounds like a Counterstamp.

    Yes, would like to see a pic too Modog. It's probably a counterstamp like Zach says.

    A lot of old coins have stamps on them. Ways of personalizing them I suppose.

    That's not a Liberty Half, that's a Kennedy Half dollar.

    But.... but.... it says "LIBERTY".

    Counterstamped. Damaged. No additional value.

    That guy's name is Kennedy, not Liberty. And that thing on the back's is an eagle

    You would be surprised how many non-collectors will refer to things like Liberty quarters, Liberty halves, Liberty dollars etc because they have no idea who the person is but it has LIBERTY clearly printed on it.

    Yeah... could be anybody on that coin. Just happens to look like JFK.
