What is a fair trade. 5 coin Mint 25th Ann. Silver Eagle set for a NGS MS69 set.

I purchased 5 x 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle sets from the mint and did not get them graded. I would like to add a graded NGC MS69 set to my collection. I would be willing to pay additional cash in a trade but not sure what would be a fair amount.

Any thoughts or interest ?

It is likely you can get 70s out of the 5 sets, I have heard a bunch of people getting more 70s than 69s in their graded 5-set boxes.

 

Pick out the best looking one's from your own lot, send them in yourself to get graded. I can't see anyone wanting to trade their graded one's with your non-graded ones. If they did, my guess is they're going to charge you more than what it would cost to get your own graded.

 

I cant send them now to get graded because I opened the box. So I could only get the Reverse and "S" coins graded as being part of the set. Maybe someone sent their 5 sets in to get graded because he had to send them all in the unopened box. And now they would like to have one of the sets in the original mint state.

Just a thought.

 

I'm thinking about offering a trade, one NGC graded (I asked for no Early Release) for two raw sets. This is a forum I'm newer to and have not figured out if there is a way to send PMs here.

To get NGC to grade a set would be a min. of $17 per coin (Modern Special). Don't know if they can go in under regular Modern ($14/coin). So that $85 right there.
Add postage there (Say $20 for Registered), return postage (at least $20, probably more) and the $8 handling fee plus $5 to get the OGP back.
That's around $140 to get a set certified at NGC. PCGS may or may not charge more.

 

I appreciate the consideration of a trade, bu that hardly seems fair. Since Raw and MS69 sets are only selling for about a $50 difference right now on e-bay.

 

There's your answer then; buy a graded set on ebay and sell one of your raw sets on ebay. You'll get a graded set for $50 which is considerably less than I paid to get mine graded plus you don't have to put the time and effort in. I wish I could have got mine graded for $50 a set, that's about half of what it cost me just to send 5 sets in. Good luck.
