That 1887 is very beautiful! My 1887 is quite toned, but not in a nice way. My Unc halfcrowns are dated 1910 and above, but I do have a nice 1895 in Unc, which I should get a nice picture of sometime. Crowns are definitely a challenge, for sure, especially Wreath ones. Do you have any of those?
the rarest of the george v half crowns is the 1930 only 500,000 minted. for obvious reasons my favourites are the cromwell and commonwealth issues, by far the best we ever minted.
The number minted in 1930 was 809,051, but it is the lowest since 1905 (166,008)! I have about 4 normal circluation examples of 1930, and one in aEF. That and the 1932 (EF) also are the only ones between 1910 and 1967 that I have in less than gEF or better. I do love the halfcrown designs, right from Victoria to George VI. It was the 'look' and 'feel' of a halfcrown I found in a jar my dad had that got me into collecting way back in 1980.
depending on which book you use depends on the mintage of the 1930, the coincraft one lists it at 500,000
Ah, I see! I got mine from COIN YEAR Book; the old ones (prior to 1995) and the newer versions (by Token publishing) have repeated the same figure. Either way, that's not a lot of them ... What does the Coincraft one list for 1905?
