I purchased some silver dollars while in Afghanistan and recently found them. I am curious if anyone can tell me about them(fake or real) and what they may be worth. I will put up pictures in the posts to follow. Thank you in advance.
I figured as much. Out of curiosity, how is it that you can tell they are fake? Other than the date on the Statue of Liberty Commemorative.
I think I have some of these too. Quick test, see if they are attracted to a magnet. That would mean either magnetic silver or fakes.
Yep... like Conder said, not a single genuine example in the bunch. Nice additions to someone's "black" cabinet though. I hope you didn't pay too much, as most are available on eBay for a couple of dollars each.
These are obvious fakes, and may or may not pass the magnet test. Most of today's fakes are non-magnetic (but will fail the "slide" test).
I agree - they are all fake. How can we tell they are fake? Many of us here are fairly experienced in counterfeit detections and those coins are fairly easy to spot as fakes. They have "the look" of cheap Chinese counterfeits that are pouring out of China daily. Sorry for the bad news. Hope you didn't pay much for them.
