those are awesome notes Good finds! I can't wait to get more large size notes. In fact I might have to purchase one now for the **** of it even though I shouldn't. Haha. I have a fever. And the only prescription is more large notes!
wow $185! eeee that is a lot for a small FRN! You don't see mismatched serial numbers everyday! well - outside the B.E.P. anyways! So $185 or $1850 who's to say that is to much! Unless it's Canadain or Euro money, than it's only worth a few bucks over face? zinggg That would be kind of cool if the B.E.P. did some collectibles with xxxx1776 on the left, and xxxx2012 on the right with the new $2's. Assuming we get them next year? Those would sale out faster than the 2011 $2 set and Dragon $1's!!! Seriously, who bought all the Dragon notes? Fess up and take your verbal beating now! You do know they're making over a 100,000 of those - right! Those would of made awesome Christmas gifts! Now everyone gets year of the goat LOL
These twins arrived today - I just love light green seals! The Minneapolis note is PCGS Choice New 63. The raw Chicago note looks like a higher grade to me.
All those look great clayirving. My mother-in-law worked at the Treasury in the 70s, and has some of the '76 $2s autographed like that. And those are beautiful light green seals!
I had to fill in some of my world note collection. In today's mail, I received a beautiful note from Thailand commemorating the King's 7[SUP]th [/SUP]Cycle Birthday (84 years old) on 05 Dec 2011: Issue Date: 02 Dec 2011 Serial Number: 9 K 1472644 Front: HM King Rama IX over the background pattern printed with metallic gold ink at center. Bhor Por Ror (บภร) Monogram at center left in silver foil. Garuda at upper left. The serial number is preceded with a "9" prefix representing the ninth monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. I just picked this up to replace a F12 grade I sold at the ANA convention in August. I graded this one at XF40.
A graded 58 North Africa note?!?! A little too expensive for me, but sure is nice to look at. Thanks for sharing.
Word! You must of read my $20 gold cert story LOL Family will never understand this notaphily disorder? Well maybe the old lady will understand when it's time to cash them in during retirement. That is one nice note, and if it makes you smile - right  I know a dealer who has two AU consecutive Hawaii $1 notes for $179 w/free shipping! To bad cause I can barely keep my large note phase going. If I can score one a month I will be happy!!! PW if you want the dealers link for the Hawaii notes. Again, I don't own these but they are awesome! BTW: Did anyone catch the Cointalk radio EP. 30? They talked a little about the N. Africa notes towards the end, however the one thing that made no since was soldiers not exchanging them when they returned home, but rather painting over or removing the yellow seal, and printing a blue seal on top? ummm if you can exchange for regular blue seals for free, I don't see any advantage to altering them unless your the enemy... Also if you wanted to keep them, and obviously many did (Thank you guys! I have a few myself) you would just mail home as keepers. Someone needs to check that data... I see a bright future for these notes, cause many are being horded like nothing else especially to WWII collectors! They sale like hotcakes on eBay, and in a lot of case way above their value! It's the M1 Garand of money , and baby I own a couple Garands and if you guys never shot one, you don't know what your missing!!!!!!!! One of the best damn rifles ever made! I don't care how you feel about guns, love them or hate them - that gun will have you signing up for a NRA life membership after one 8 round clip... LOLOLOLOL OK OK I'm digressing again. I can't help it! It's like my alpha power? :hail:

clayirving; Besides having good tastes in notes, you must also have ample time to research them all. You must be retired or have a strong network of friends who keep you informed. Do you have dealers who work with "want lists" or is it all left up to chance? Just curious as to how this is all organized.
