Hello all! I recently came across 145 US silver quarters form 1932 - 1964, here are some photos, I need your honest opinion, should I sell individual $10 rolls of them on eBay or put this up at auction? I know that these are worth quite alot about 800 dollars. I'm new here and just looking for some opinions from individuals who have dealt or sold coins before?
I would suggest that you go through them and look for key/semi-key dates or any that are in spectacular condition. Those will fetch a premium. I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject, but my guess is that the rest will sell for around the spot price of silver.
'I recently came across 145 US silver quarters form 1932 - 1964' really - like, walking down the street... and.... viola? lol [h=2][/h]
As a frequent ebay lurker, it seems to me people overpay for junk silver quarters individually. The large bulk auctions don't seem to fetch as much, especially when the count is over 50 or so from what I've seen. You're likely better selling them in lots of 10 or less I think. I've see lots of 15 go for about $90-$110 at times, if you could pull that off, you could easily make $1000 from the whole lot. Melt value as a whole lot would fetch around $775. But like others have said, examine each of them, pull key dates that you might want to keep, then do away with the rest how you see fit. We can only offer opinions.
I found these in an old coffee can at my grandparents house, a bit of incentive for all coin collectors haha.
Current melt value is $780.10, (price of silver currently at $29.75), you could try and retail them on eBay or even craigslist and maybe get close to a grand for the whole lot(minus eBay fees of course). A dealer would offer between $600-$650 for the whole lot.
