100% incorrect. bank rolls will always be available as there is a large supply available and they reamin in circulation and available for banks to order as easily as they order dimes or quarters. They come in boxes of 1000 (40 rolls of $25). Mint wrapped rolls in Mint packed boxes will dry up as the stockpiled supply disappears, but the supply of bagged and circulated dollar coins is plentiful. I believe he means that the 2012 designs and newer will no longer be available at banks in rolls. I believe this is true. So your "100% incorrect" reply is not true in my opinion. Yes, banks can still order "dollar coins" from supply, but they will likely be some of the $1.3 billion currently in the coffers from issues dated 2007-2011.

This is very true but the only thing which will save it is if the collector base does not drop off. Kennedy Half Dollars have been minted in quantities of less than 2 million per mint for the past 3 years yet show no significant premiums unless they grade MS67 or higher.
I heard an estimate of 18 years for the current dollar coin supply, not sure if that's circulated rolls, uncirculated in the vault, or what. Haven't found any 2002-2008 Sacagaweas or 2002-present JFK halves in circulation. I completed my JFK half collection quite cheaply by buying from roll searchers luckier than I. Not sure if 4 designs per year or other factors would make things different for Prez dollars.
Sad, but not surprising. After the state quarters, many who were new to the hobby were bored with the whole circulating commems. I feel the state quarters were such a huge success simply because there hadn't been any design changes in so long, that people were in shock. Now we have a series which is unpopular, and guaranteed never to be worth anything.
This whole production of Presidential dollars news is terrible and an embarrassment to the US period. The fact that the US Gov't won't simply stop making dollar bills and force the public to use these billions of stored President dollars shows how spoiled Americans are. As an American I would welcome the Gov't saying that we have to spend them for at least awhile because someone messed up, by producing millions and now nobody wants them. I would totally accept that. It's cheaper to force them into commerce but you'd have to pull the paper. What the heck is Congress doing besides fighting with each other. Not a question, I'm just sayin'! :yes:

First report I've ever heard of about $1 counterfeit coins. The question was barely posted a couple of days ago. Amusing. I have come across a couple of different counterfeit coins, never $1. Well I thought they were counterfeit coins. Usually turns out to be PMD, environmental damage.
Let's see I've gotten a fake Jefferson nickel and a fake Washington quarter I guess we better stop making nickels and quarters too. The fake Sac dollars have been around since about 2002 and they were made in South America for actual circulation there. Some of them got back here. By the way, they bring good money if you can find one.
I got a nice roll of Garfield dollars recently from the bank. I was hoping to get some Rutherford B. Hayes coins. Oh, well. Maybe next time. I dig the dollar coins. I spend them in vending machines at work and at self check out counters, parking lots, toll roads and car washes.
