Just putting in my daily report: 383940xx @ 6:24pm backordered 12/26/2011

I received an email from the US Mint telling me as much. I held my breath when I opened it expecting to see the dreaded dear john letter. Still hanging in there!:thumb:

Thanks for the kind wishes! It would be nice to get it by Christmas but it would be nice just to get it!

I could not imagine the Mint not fullfilling the orders that are still backordered. They must have a count by now of how many are left to complete. I'm thinking there may be some "wait list" people who are still out there in case the backorder people have a credit card declined, or some such thing. I think you are backordered, and I'd think that's as good as gold (Mint gold). Best of luck.

Got the Dear John email this morning. My order has been Cancelled 383940xx (6.24pm). I was starting to have hope but that was shot down this morning. Well good luck to all that are still waiting and thanks so much to those that were pushing for us to get our sets. You're a great support group!:hail:

Doh! That's not the outcome we wanted to hear now is it... Hmmm. There must be something else in your future you are meant to get in on. What with the huge number of 70 graded A25 coins rolling out, the market value is bound to drop, which should help roll back all the grades below 70 respectively. Keep your eyes peeled and be patient, you can still own a set of these if you want them that much. The Mint price may not be obtainable now but you may still be able to add them to your collection if you are diligent and determined. Sorry for how your order turned out.

I guess I'll just have to wait until the prices go down but I don't see that happening. The price the mint charged was so affordable. Thanks for your support krispy!

One way to look at obtaining a set is to do it in pieces. If you buy individually listed coins, you only need to buy three coins from the A25 set and a box, since the Proof W and Unc W are already obtainable-- perhaps you already even have those in your collection.

Wow, coinperson, they sure put you through the wringer before pulling the rug out from under you. It was painful watching your ordeal. My condolences.

Coinperson, I replyed to you on the other thread. Suffice to say I'm sorry to have been one of the people to have raised your hopes. We were all pulling for you. Krispy and Green offer a great suggestion.

As I haven't yet opened my box, I'm thinking I probably received a returned set to the Mint, which was then resent to me. I'm hoping I didn't end up with a dud. I'm saying this because I was one of the group who received a ship notice after that long pause. I mention this because if you assemble your own set, at least you know what you will be getting, and you won't be at the mercy of the mint.

    Best of Luck.

I can do it that way, but its just not the same. Also, buying the 2 rare coins might be a bit expensive for me at this time. I'm a collector but not one that can afford expensive coins. What I would have to pay for the 2 coins would be more than double what I was going to pay for the whole set. Of course its something to think about, tho. Thanks for you support!
