#1 The current One Dollar Presidential Series #2 The current One Dollar Presidential Series #3 The current One Dollar Presidential Series Want to guess what my fourth choice is?
I just think you listed about my top six ugliest US coins. Thanks, I was wondering what my next 3 would be after Ikes, SBA, and Sacs. Kennedy has to be up there as well.
The Elgin early commemorative and all the modern stuff with dead president obverses. And that olympic coin that's been brought up a couple times.
haha I love how you threw in the buffalo nickel to encite reaction =0 LOL I love the buffalo. My lease favorite U.S. would be the Seated Liberty, Eisenhower, and Gold half eagle.
Maybe, but believe it or not there are people who do not like Buffs. It's all a chocolate and vanilla thing. Everybody has their own favorite flavor and everybody has a flavor they detest. Which is precisely why they make so many different flavors
"Susan B. Anthony looked like an old hag/witch" 2000 years apart: Left: Susan B. Anthony Right: Cleopatra VII, yes THAT Cleopatra The "serpent of the Nile", seducer of Caesar and Mark Antony Now, who are you calling an "old hag/witch"?
I like the shield reverse too. I was so getting tired of the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse. The shield is refreshing to me.
Now play fair. She was more of a seductress when she was younger, but she always had that nose. Actually in antiquity she wasn't known for her beauty, but her "ability to please a man". Take that as you wish.
To me the criteria on the worst design would be: Where the artist had a chance to do something really aesthetic, original, and classic, and royally screwed up--why didn't the mint director at the time insist that the artist(s) go back to the drawing board? For gold coins--I have never liked the 1830s "classic head". Compared to what came before and after the design is crappy IMO. For silver coins, the three cent nickels takes the cake IMO. A really weird design, but I am open to reason, would like to hear the other side of the story. For copper coins, the increasing chinceyness of those. We went off copper in 1982 (and I knew the man largely responsible for that). The way things are going I wouldn't be surprized if we start having pop stars or billionaires like Warren Buffett or Bill Gates or the highest bidder, on our coins. :rollling:
I wish they would change the lincoln obverse. I wouldn't mind having the obverse from the 2009 Lincoln silver dollar. While some do not like the new Jefferson portrait, it's at least different. Why not update the portraits on other coinage?
