Hello, I:rollling: found this 1992 D Penny in a Roll.It has this Cross-like-Cut when I found It..... It weighs 1.9 Grams. And why I posted it is because it has a Strange Error on the back the Memorial Building image is tilted/Sideways.I compared it with a NORMAL cent and the Bottom end of the Momorial Building does not touch the words CENT on mine. The coin is centered with front and Back, and the Words on the Back are Centered with themselves. How could this error happen? Perhaps, the cut was made to discard the coin at the MINT,just a theory? Just wonder if it holds any collectable value? What is it worth? Help Advise? God Bless. Beck Kissimmee FL
The mint does not put a cross in coins to "discard" them at the mint. Even if they did, then they would have "discarded" them and it would not have gone out. This is PMD.
This is probably the fourth one I've seen this year. Not a mint error. PMD. Value? Whatever you can get for it...another cent or just keep it for fun.
The reason it looks like the memorial building is tilted is because the cross was not centered on the coin, top to bottom; instead the cross was put to go through Lincoln a certain way, and that made it tilted on both sides, which cancels out the other side being tilted. Keep trying, at least you are posting coins that are not so far gone as to looking for "road kill" to be valuable. Sometimes the only way to learn is to keep asking about what you see. And welcome back to CT.
