I wouldn't touch stuff like that with a ten foot pole. You're probably gonna get a pile of crap.

Is throwing money into a slot machine a good investment?

Well, as long as you're buying a portion of it...

To answer you directly: NO it is not a good INVESTMENT, if that is what you are looking for. An investment usually involves ascertaining the reliability of the product prior to investing and weighing the known and sometimes unknown risks involved.

BUT.....it is probably just as the seller describes, and many who buy will be satisfied. Why? Because when they got their selection, the got a coin or two that they considered "neat" or they just like to be surprised by what they get. They even may think that the value of what they spent is equal to what they received. Sometimes people think they are "lucky" and getting a valuable coin in a batch is what probably will happen to them. Even if it doesn't, that doesn't stop them from thinking it will happen more often than not. So they're willing to take the chance and buy. For those that think it's probably a rook deal, but want to chance that they will receive something really valuable in it, they will be satisfied either because they do, or if they don't, they knew ahead of time they shouldn't and it's not the seller's fault they didn't.

But that second one is not an investment. It is more akin to buying a scratch-off lottery ticket or something, but with the guarantee you will receive 15 "items" for your price.

Go for it if you want, but don't go for it if you want to "invest" in coins.

I'll bet not a single coin in the pics shows up in what they send you :dead-horse:

How could it? They obviously have many more coins that they buy sight unseen --- it is humanly impossible to go through that many coins, cull out the ones that are valuable, salt the rest with a couple that are somewhat valuable, and then say they are unsearched. :sarcasm

I may have been misleading by describing it as an investment. I just wanted some more coins to add to my collection.

Then you may well be satisfied with your purchase, and that's all that counts! :D

BTW, take pics of what you get and share them with us, with what you like about them!

As an investment I would say no. But for fun, yes. Its like getting a big grab bag of coins to look through.

I would not just willy nilly add junk to the collection- you will regret that. I am sure that many of us have stuff like that
