Hello, everyone. I've found a penny that, at least arguably, is a two-error coin.

First of all, it's a weak strike:

As weak strikes go, it's in a bit of a sweet spot. Stronger weak strikes look satiny and almost lacquered. Weaker weaks, although clearly not Type II Planchets, are indecipherable. This one is weak enough to make figuring out its year a bit of a puzzle, but strong enough for it to have a discernable year.

The second error is what I call a "rounded edge":

I'm not sure of the technical term, but the edge looks like a 'D' in profile.

I've found two examples of the former error, and at least one of the latter, but this coin has both. I thought you'd get a kick out of it.

For those of you who don't remember me, I'm the guy with these

Sorry, but it looks like a typical "dryer" coin. I've had several of these over the last few years. The rounded rim is a dead giveaway.

Could you please explain? I'm not sure what you mean by a "dryer" coin.

  5. Basically, it's seen extreme wear from circulation. Imagine throwing a cent in a dryer for laundry and keeping it going for a few hours, that'll happen.

  6. Looks like it might have seen some exposure to acid too.

    Thanks for that.
