This coin came out of a complete set of early dates in a Dasco I bought a few years back. I thought it pretty cool with toning on a circulated cent. Unfortunately, I chose to sell it. I wish I had this one back! Matt
I just bought this raw 1936 Proof Lincoln with some interesting color. Proof Lincoln Mintage was only a bit over 5,000 coins in 1936, the first year of Lincoln proofs after the end of the Matte Proofs in 1916. This will get shipped off to PCGS for grading next week. I am hoping for either a PR64RB or PR65RB grade -- fingers crossed.
AWWWWWWW.....you LUCKY bastage!!!!! I should write a book on my trials and tribulations related to filling this hold in my proof collection. :headbang: I've been looking for 1936 brillant about 10 years now. Yea, I've seen a few and held a few....only one met my criteria and it was at the end of a coin show, of course, after I already spent over my limit. It was one of the biggest mistakes ever because I didn't figure out a way to go back and get it. Well...congrats on your purchase man! There was only 5569 minted and probably many of those have been lost or damaged.....that makes you lucky to have one.
BadThad, I understand completely ... Finding nice early proof lincolns is tough ... especially tough if you like interesting color. I have to tell you the story with this one. I saw this AWFUL looking photo on ebay, but the price was pretty low (a bit over $400) for this rare date, so I thought what the heck, let me see what it looks like in hand. I figured I would open the envelope and see an ugly AT'd coin that I would then return for a refund ... can you picture my SURPRISE when the PRETTY and COLORFUL PROOF that I posted above fell out of the envelope??? If I can squeeze a PR65 grade out of PCGS, I make a paper profit close to $1000. The sellers photo was PURELY AWFUL (and lucky for me, very misleading) http://www.ebay.com/itm/120538990365?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I think after you get this graded and Phil takes a monster photo, you will be well on your way to a colorful set of 1936-42 proof Lincoln's. Great Pickup!!
Man, you certainly lucked out!!! NICE PRICE! Seller pics make it look badly impared with dull surfaces, I see luster in your pictures. Take it out of the Capital and take some better pics for me, I'm drooling over this 36, you just don't see them a lot.
That 1975 S Proof Cent is stunningly resilient with luster galore! An overall lovely coin that passes my eye appeal test with flying colors!
This is my extremely rare, very valuable, one-of-a-kind, Lincoln Assassination Cent (value-$24,000,000) - (video soon to be coming (ad nauseum) to a forum near you!)
