I have found 10-12 40%ers that look like clad from the side as the middle of the "sandwich" looks like copper. So, don't just do an edge check, drop them in your hands so that you are also doing a sound check. You'll hear the silver if it is there. That way, you are doing 2 checks instead of one. Of course, checking the dates is the best way...

I was asking for Ike's yesterday and found a branch with $100. As the teller was counting it out I saw there was a Morgan Dollar in there. I was so excited to pull my first Morgan for a buck!

Nice find on the '50-D... that continues to elude me, 155 boxes later...

I think someone's coin collection got raided, whether purposely or accidently.

That would also be my guess.

Turns out that the bag may have been replaced recently when the counter was serviced. I ended up having to dump $700 in clad to get the bag. I will go through it later but I see 2 Walkers and a 90% Kennedy in the bottom of the bag so I guess its already worth it.

Only 2 people chimed in so far on the thread. None of the rest of you want our own forum?

I don't understand what you're trying to do. THIS IS our own forum. When searching, it's all in one place. To see the history of roll searching for several years is right here. Not to mention having to subscribe to yet ANOTHER thread. No need to change JUST for the sake of changing.

Sorry, I just don't see the point.

Everything and anything related to roll searching is packed into one thread. I don't know about you but it's close to impossible to search information out of this thread. I was hoping that CT could create a separate forum for us. In this forum we could continue to have a thread (this one) dedicated to finds\results. It would also allow us to create new threads related to roll searching...for example: "Which coin counters reject silver?" or "Help! My local bank says they can't order halves" or "I just order a box of dimes. What to look for?" It would help clean up the results thread too. Just an idea.

Based on the results of the $300 in halves that was in this bag, I REALLY wish I was able to score the previous bag. May have to order a couple of boxes from this bank.

    Walkers: 19xx, 1942 x 2, 1944 x 2, 1947 x 2
    Frankin: 1959
    JFK: 1964 x 4, 1966 x 4, 1967 x 4, 1968d x 5, 1969d x 2, 1976s

Crap, Moon, that is a great score. I think someone unknowingly cashed in part of dead grandpa's stash.

Just looked at my spread sheet for halves. My last 5 boxes have produced 1 x 1942S Walking Liberty. I really hope this last box sitting in the car has something for me...ANYTHING!

I think it is a great idea!! think of all the side conversations that go on here but end abruptly due to getting buried. Think of all the questions I could be asking all of you! LOL

For instance, I just figured out that my dump bank and my pick up bank both use brinks. :( I guess it was a waste of time to open two accounts if it all goes to the same sorter I am still likely getting my own coin back. Does anyone have any idea how large of a geographic area one coin supplier covers? will every bank in my town use brinks or is there generally compitition in that business?

From what I have been told Dunbar services virtually every bank in Connecticut. The coins I send out go to a facility in the Hartford area to be counted, maybe even rolled back up, and they go back out to all of the Dunbar storage facilities. All Strings & Son rolls. Now for the first time ever I got a box of Loomis dimes last week. I used to think Loomis got their coins from Dunbar, but things may be different now. I still need to work out getting this bank to order me halves since I don't have an account there. To put it simply, each state and area is going to be different.
