Hello Friends,I had found this penny a while ago...and it just sat around.Just recently I cleaned it up as much as I can as I saw Goldish color ,I realized it MIGHT be worth something afterall. As I look with a cheap magnifying glass I see a little bit of doubling on the letter in the back E-Plubrius Unum.As many of you know I am just a beginner in the Linclon coin collecting.Need your advise,Help? Should I vinger to clean it up further? God Bless!

Well, the first piece of advice on coin collecting is never clean a coin. As grungy as most of those older pieces are, they are worth more untouched by any sponge, brush or cloth, etc. It's a decent older coin, worth a buck or so. I don't think there is any major variety for that year. I'll concede to the Lincoln cent pros to further reinforce that. Welcome to cointalk!

Don't clean it anymore as what you have done to it already is more than you should have.

Yeah, 1911 isn't that special. An AU grade would fetch about $10. Since this coin was cleaned and possibly damaged, I'd say it's value is around the G4 range, which would fetch about 50 cents. The 1911-S is a key penny find.

Previously cleaned, don't clean it anymore, it won't help. Might be worth 50 cents to the right person and that aint me. LOL
